Julie Holihan

I chose to become a surgeon because I enjoy problem-solving and helping patients regain their health and quality of life. Hernia surgery is especially rewarding because it combines technical precision with the opportunity to significantly improve a patient’s daily function, comfort, and confidence. My approach to patient care is centered on listening first. Every patient’s goals, symptoms, and circumstances are unique, so I believe treatment decisions should be individualized and based on the best available evidence. I take the time to explain each diagnosis and treatment option, answer questions, and partner with my patients to develop a care plan that aligns with their priorities. Whenever possible, I use minimally invasive and robotic surgical techniques to help patients recover more quickly and return to the activities they enjoy. My clinical interests are focused on hernia and abdominal wall reconstruction. In addition to caring for patients, I conduct clinical research focused …on improving outcomes and advancing evidence-based hernia care. Outside of work, I enjoy spending time with my husband and children, running, trying new restaurants, and traveling.
