Dr. Karen Phyllis Frei, MD

The first neurologist I was referred to was Dr. Karen Frei She was working in Fountain Valley at the time.This was after I had told my regular Dr. that I was experiencing movement in one finger on my left hand that it sometimes moved by itself. That’s the only symptom I had. I was 48 years old and healthy. My Dr put in a referral for me to see a neurologist. She didn't want to speculate on what it could be. So I made an appt. I arrived at my appt early to fill out paperwork. I waited for 45 min until I was called into a room. Then another 30 min before Dr. Frei walked in. I could tell she didn't want to be there from her whole demeanor. I started to tell her my short story about why I was there and before I was done, she abruptly said walk down the hall, which I did. She then said you have Parkinson's just like that. Like it was every day conversation for me! It might have been for her, and I'm sure it was but I was numb. I didn't know anything about Parkinson's at the time… and I didn't know if I was going to die from it or what to expect. And Dr. Frei wasn't in the frame of mind to explain! I got out of there and asked my regular Dr. for another referral! It took a while but it was worth it. Now this was 9 years ago. I realize that there isn’t a “good” way to give someone news like that, but the way she did it wasn’t the correct way either! This has been in the back off my mind for ovér 9 years. I need to let it go! But, not without sharing my grievance with the public.

The only positive thing I will say is she recommended the best neurosurgeon,, dr devin binder for my DBS surgery. However when she began the adjustments after surgery she was impatient and even yelled at me! And did not know what she was doing and overadjusted me and caused me to walk on the left side of my foot! Did you get fresh

Awful doctor I will never return to her. Her bedside manner was disrespectful and very condescending.

No personal interest.

It took me three days to just to be able to make an appt. I had to look on line to find the main office phone number. the long beach number would only ring and then disconnect for two days. my authoration went to the long beach office and so i had to fax it to the fountain valley office before they would even set an appoiment. seems this doctor has little interest in her clients. i see why she has a very poor client satisfaction rating.

This clinic was one of the worst I have gone too for a very long time. The office staff were rude an impolite. and you were able to hear every thing in the small Dr's rooms concerning other patient
