Dr. Kevin William Lanighan, MD

I'm 73 and have been to many doctors in my life. This jerk needs to go to anger management and then retire. Everything I've read in these reviews is true. He came in like gangbusters, didn't even look at my hands, told me I had inflamation from arthritis (no kidding) wouldn't let me talk, denied that 50 years of typing was not the cause of carpal tunnel and trigger fingers in both hands. Huh? I cut him off and told him I was there because of tingling numbness and pain in both hands that is constant. He's sending me for a nerve test. I will get a copy of the test results and make an appointment with a real doctor. No way will I go back to this abusive nasty arrogant old geezer. He needs to put himself out of his misery and retire.

I had gone to Dr. Lanighan for many visits concerning a thumb surgery which I had done by him three months ago. Each time I met with him prior to the surgery, I tried to explain my issues and pain and he talked over me or almost seemed not believe what I was saying. About a week after the surgery, I had developed much pain and heat in my entire arm, which to me felt like a nerve related pain. When I told him this, he criticized me for saying this by saying no one else he did this surgery on ever had this issue. Well, it happened to me! After other visits as follow ups to the surgery, I told him the arm pain was still there. He said I had told him before the surgery that I had pain in my arm, but I never had. I had pain in my thumb, but not in my arm until after the surgery. Whenever I have to talk with him, he says I always come in angry when all that I’m doing is trying to explain my pain to him and what I think is wrong with me. He always tells me to calm down when all I’m doing is… trying to give him some information. At my LAST visit today I had told him my arm pain was still there and was likely due to the surgery and that I never had this pain before it. Of course, he talked over me and, yes, now he got me angry! I told him I was leaving, and I just got up and left. There’s no talking to this man especially if you don’t agree with what he’s saying or if you are trying to explain your pain. He’s ruined my arm for months now, and he even said if there was any nerve damage, he wouldn’t be able to fix the problem. Who knows if my pain will ever go away. I’ll never go back to him again!

Does not let you speak, when you try he talks over you. Very condescending as if you couldn't possibly know what you are talking about. Doesn't want to hear you, just makes a decision without even looking at you or speaking with you.

My mother went in looking for help with her hands that she is experiencing numbness, swelling and pain in. She is dealing with workers comp and Urgent care suggested this Dr. The Dr Lanighan basically looked at her and said there’s nothing he can do to help and that overweight people usually are more prone to carpel tunnel. She is the hardest working person i know- how dare you degrade her like that! She is not one to complain about pain so the fact that she’s now dealing with this means she needs someone that will listen and help her- not be arrogant and judgmental.

I sought help due to constant pain and numbness in both hands, along with losing grip strength over time. I am a young adult. After testing, my results are inside the border of normal range. He told me that yes, I am going to hurt after doing strenuous activity with my hands.....what part of constant and getting worse over time did he block out from acknowledging? So I was left with no path forward.

Went for hand issues - I can't lift dishes, hold my cell phone, or write for more than 10 minutes without extreme discomfort. As soon as he walked in, before even examining, said he'd probably be unable to help me -- seemingly because I checked on my new patient sheet that I had been experiencing this pain for years (but now, due to excessive typing/online classes, it's gotten worse). By the end of the visit, he didn't even tell me what to do next: didn't recommend anti-inflammatory, any pills, any follow-up or different doctor visits -- instead, he told me "sometimes people aren't able to live life the way they want, and they need to adjust accordingly". Also, he claimed he's "never seen damage/injuries due to excessive/repetitive computer usage". For a hand specialist in 2020, very behind on the times. So now I have absolutely zero idea of what to do next. Didn't even recommend immobilization or anything at ALL - left me completely empty-handed and honestly just more distressed.

I put a chainsaw through the back of my hand and severed a tendon along with some other bits and pieces. Dr. Lanighan was straight forward about the damage and the work it would take after surgery to regain full mobility. It has been a few years and all that is left is a slightly visible scar. My hand operates as though it never happened which is probably something I don't deserve after how careless I was while trimming trees.

Just read the comments, he is the same nasty to almost everyone. And if he hasn't done it to you yet just wait, he will! I cannot believe Northtown Ortho allows this kind of abuse to go on. RUN

I have been to numerous Doctors in my life and I mean numerous and numerous prior surgeries. I have never ever been mistreated for asking questions about concerns I had after having surgery. Was told they did not have time to return calls on such things. I forked out money for this surgery, along with my insurance, and they can’t even care for me after my surgery. Very unhappy and disappointed with the Doctor. Very rude Doctor and non professional.

My husband had seen Dr Lanighan for the last 2 years for an accident injury. The office staff and himself have always been very courteous and helpful with everything . What a fantastic office!!!!!!!!
