Dr. Kevin Kichul Suk, MD

My dad was scheduled to see Dr. Suk for post op. Dr.Suk wasn't the doctor that performed the surgery but was told it's common for a patient to see any doctor for postop. When we arrived the lobby was packed! I overheard patients complaining being there for 2 hours. We finally got to see the doctor after waiting almost 2 hours as well. The doctor had zero bedside manners. Didn't greet us and immediately went to sit in front of the computer and asked if we got prescription for drops yet. He stated he would put in an order and when I asked how often we would need to administer the drops he responded instructions will be on the label. He then proceeds to say an "air bubble" was placed in my dad's eye. When I asked why he said he doesn't know and to ask the doctor that performed surgery. I asked if the notes mentioned anything he said no he didn't have access! I then asked if he can explain why an air bubble would be needed. He said no ask the doctor. I can't answer any questions… regarding the surgery. Which I understand to a certain degree so that's why I asked in general why would someone need an air bubble. The doctor was not helpful, rude and disrespectful. Extremely insensitive to our needs. Not sure why he had so many patients waiting for him given lack of professionalism. I do not recommend him to anyone.

I was sent to Dr Suk to get exam on eye with floaters. He put 14 drops for dilation and another 6 drops for pain. He examined and said I need a Lazer surgical procedure right now and my eyes are already prepped. I wasn't given anything in writing about what, when, why, how. I said I wanted to research the procedure and look at the options and get information first. He was not happy.My eyes were so overly dilated I could barely walk to my car. I got sick in the parking lot and called the office and told them how dizzy and sick I was from 14 dilation drops and I didn't know what to do. The receptionist told me I only had 2 drops and hung up on me!!! She actually hung up. I actually counted when he kept putting in drops. He was working on someone in office next to me, and kept putting in more drops to save time. I left my car after waiting 2 hours , never wore off, so I took an Uber home. I can't even go into the fact my eyes were burnt from other stuff he did to my eyes. I never write… bad reviews, but, this experience was so bad I couldn't be talked into seeing another opthalmologist. Trust me, it was bad.

The whole thing, from start to finish went very well. About a month ago, in Sept. 2022 I detached the cataract lens in my right eye. The IOL Lens was just floating free. Most doctors I called could not see me for over a month (thanks Covid) they are all booked out that far. I called my retinal doctor who could see me right way, he is at the Acuity Eye Group. Dr. Culata took one look at my eye and said, you need to see Dr. Suk. I went to see doctor Suk, he took one look and told me what needed to be done. He explained it very well, it was going to be a different surgery than what the cataract surgery was. They got me in for surgery pretty quickly, Oct. 5th of 2022. I was thoroughly impressed with the surgery. Dr. Suk’s nurses are engaging, good at getting you ready for the surgery room, and just calming you down. The anesthesiologist was a great guy too, all I remember is being wheeled to the surgery room, then waking in the recovery room. Dr. Suk came over to my bedside and told me… that it all went very well. I had absolutely no pain. Plus I had a Rx for the recovery after surgery, a list of things not to do plus an actual prescription for two medications. It takes about a week for your vision to come into focus, but I could see each day it was improving. I probably will not need glasses, maybe readers at most. I can highly recommend Dr. Suk and the Acuity Eye Group! Some people wrote in their reviews that Dr. Suk’s bedside manners were not great. I don’t know what they expect, a side show? He told me everything I needed to know. If you have questions ask them, he’ll answer and explain.

I started treatment for ERM with a different doctor in the Retina Institutes. When it was determined I needed surgery, I was moved to Dr. Suk. I saw Dr. Suk in Huntington Beach but was told the procedure would have to be done in San Gabrial. The surgical booker was vague and the surgery center did not look at my pre-admit records until the afternoon before my surgery and cancelled my surgery for other health issues. It took 4 days for Dr Suk to call me back to tell me he had no hospital priviledges, only surgical centers. Nearly 2 weeks later, he told me that NONE of the doctors in the Retina Institutes had hospital priviledges and that I should call UCI and maybe they could recommend a doctor. I found the treatment at his office highly unprofessional.
