Horrible physician and human. Very egotistical and cold. Misdiagnosed my mom and she died a horrible death. Dr. Starr literally destroyed my mom’s health and life.

She was distracted, cold, and very egotistical. I went 3 times, kept thinking it was a bad day. All of her days are bad, she was horrible, and completely misdiagnosed me. It has honestly completely destroyed my life, and I am talking to malpractice attorneys now.

ZERO STARS of that's possible - I will find out at the end. I have a family member with Alzheimer's. Already diagnosed by a neurologist ... and final confirmation and beginning of medication treatment would start in May of this year. But today, Dr. Starr, the patient's primary care physician, has indicated she thinks her getting lost, failing the sage test, inability to take medication, eat, or remember where her daughter lives are all caused by stress alone. She has convinced neurologist at Scripps to postpone treatment for Alzheimer's, and even insisted to me that the Neurologist does not think she has Alzheimer's. This would only be by her coaxing him. He thoroughly believed she had it, in two separate conversations I had with him. One in person, and one on the phone. , and the patient is ecstatic that she does not have Alzheimer's. She has had brain scans, MRI, cat scan, lab work - all normal, to indicate the reason for the memory issues is indeed Alzheimer's. There is no… true definitive diagnosis for Alzheimer's until you die and there is an autopsy, however, process of elimination (of other brain injuries that may cause the same symptoms) are what allow the diagnosis to be assumed. This physician is now STOPPING the prescription or Aricept, because the patient has moments of clarity, and can come off as very together. This only lasts for 30-60 minutes, and in that window, you will see some of the the issues - and it should be evident to a trained or educated mind that there is a significant cognitive impairment. The patient has had every test under the sun to rule out vascular dementia, oxygen deprivation, brain injury (trauma), etc. This doctor was nasty, irrational, and challenging - all things you should not be to a loved one trying to convey the reality of a patient.
