Age: 36. I had a microdiscectomy in December 2024 after over 10 years of lumbar pain (2 herniated discs, lower back pain, numbness down leg, hip pain etc). Most recently the pain, walking, just everything increased which led me to seek a surgeon. Dr. Jegede and his care team at NYU have been very helpful and dare I even say performed a miracle. When you experience lumbar pain, herniated discs etc, you can begin to feel like this is how the rest of your life will be. I can tell you, 2 months post op, that you do not have to suffer and you do not have to be in pain forever. Granted, everyone's healing process is different so some may take longer than others and some may have more after care needs but I can guarantee you Dr. Jegede and his team will be right there with you along the way. Am I satisfied with my surgery? Yes. Do I trust Dr. Jegede and his team? Yes. Do I trust NYU with my medical care? Yes. I am still healing however, no more hip pain, no more back pain, I can stand longer… than 10 minutes in one spot, I can walk up a hill without pain, stairs aren't a problem and I don't have to take pain medication just to get going in the morning... that's progress.

Not so great bedside manner. He asks questions but he doesn’t listen well and doesn’t seem to care about what the patient has to say. Honestly felt like I was just a waste of his time because there wasn’t enough wrong with me that he could do surgery on.

I don’t know if he is a good surgeon or not. He might be. But his bedside manners have tons of work to do.

Not only did the doctor make time to perform this complex procedure in the late afternoon, but he follows up to see how I’m doing.
