Dr. Kumara Singaravelu, MD

I love Dr. Kumara. He played a big part in saving my life. He also is more "small town Dr." He knew my kids and would ask about my cat. Thank you, Dr. Kumara

I honestly don't remember this physician, but he came in for a consult at St. Joseph's hospital during my stay there. I must have liked him because I had no problems with any of the doctors. However, his billing practices are not so great. He evidently is not a provider of my insurance, so my insurance billed his services as out of network which made the $275.00 he charged me for one visit my responsibility. I sent in an appeal for this because I did not ask for this doctor and didn't have any decision into him coming in to see me. My insurance went ahead and reprocessed the claim as in network and paid this physician in network, with a payment of $95.05. But because he's not a contracted doctor of my insurance, he can bill me the difference of what he charged for the visit and what was not paid. This is called balance billing. If a doctor is contracted, they have to write that difference off. But after speaking to his billing service today twice, I was told it is there policy to not… write anything off. All the doctors that I saw accepted what the insurance paid, yet his billing services wants all the balance. It is just poor customer service and relations I feel because of the fact I didn't ask for this doctor. And after paying over $10,000. in medical costs from having a collapsed lung due to Valley Fever, the $179.95 is a big deal to me. To him, or her, (like I said, I cannot remember this doctor), it's a small drop in the bucket. I'm writing this to inform others of what you may be faced with. I will not be paying this remainder, and would rather hurt my excellent credit than pay them a dime more.
