No one promised (or even hinted) that I'd be able to see well as I can without any glasses after cataract surgery. It's great to get up in the morning and not need to connect with glasses for each step of the day. Income taxes were much easier to do last April, and I can work through most activities without glasses. Dr. Fine's office and procedures are set up for efficiency: she and her assistants have well-defined roles. Seeking advice that related specifically to my active, outdoorsy lifestyle, I had several questions that her assistant could not answer. Dr. Fine interrupted what would otherwise have been the efficient flow of her office to take full time to consider each of my questions. I appreciated the completeness and contrast of the well-run office and the empathetic doctor who was going to do surgery on my eyes!

Dr Laura Fine is special. She listens. She responds to questions in an understandable way. She focuses on the needs of the patient ahead of everything else. All of these traits AND an exceptional surgeon. She has treated me for glaucoma and performed my cataract surgery. Like Dr Fine, her team of Kate in her office and Carrie and Erin in surgery exceeded all of my expectations. I work in the health care field and only wish all clinicians were as patient focused and caring as Dr Fine and the team she leads.

Dr. Laura Fine’s outstanding professional reputation as a gifted ophthalmologist surgeon is well-earned. She’s fantastic and did an absolutely wonderful job in removing cataracts from both my right and left eyes with the least bit of discomfort to me. I now have exceptional vision. She’s also a superb communicator, very caring, and a complete pleasure to work with. You can learn a great deal about a physician by how her support staff that is intimately involved in her day-to-day work think of her. While helping me prepare for my treatment, several expressed to me their admiration for her extraordinary skill as a surgeon and for her unwavering kindness to both patients and staff alike. In our discussions, Dr. Fine assiduously sought all information she could possibly need concerning my circumstances to ensure for me the best possible result. In everything she does, she gave new meaning to the words “above and beyond.” A patient like me with an ophthalmologist like Dr. Fine, who… possesses great knowledge, experience ( at least 23 years performing cataract surgery) and competence, is most fortunate. But a patient like me with an ophthalmologist like Dr. Fine, who in addition possesses wisdom, common sense and a deep sense of caring, is blessed. There are some professionals with whom each of us has such a wonderful experience that we remember them for a lifetime. She’s one of those. She’s the best.

Dr. Fine is a professional, caring surgeon. I came to her looking for a cataract surgeon. There are many choices for lenses and focal length, and with her guidance and expertise I am completely happy with my post operative vision. Many doctors recommend choosing a complex lens that maximizes profits. Most doctors also recommend choosing a long focus/distance lens. She listened to my concerns and my lifestyle and we chose a closer focal distance for both eyes and a simple lens. Both surgeries went extremely smoothly. All the staff from reception to scheduling to post operative are professional and helpful. While some people seem to have long wait-times based on other reviews I read, I never had to wait for more than 30 minutes in the waiting area, and usually less than 10 minutes. I use the Waltham office. There are many eyedrops that accompany cataract surgery, and Ophthalmic Consultants uses a special pharmacy that combines the medication into a single eyedrop so that only… one drop is required instead of three or more. While this may not sound like a big deal, it is, and makes life much easier and simpler. I think it is extremely important that a person considering cataract surgery perform a lot of research regarding the type of lens available, the focal lengths, etc. Watch a lot of you-tube videos and read a lot of brochures and become informed of all the choices that need to be made. This will help achieve a satisfactory result.

Dr Fine performed cataract surgery on both of my eyes in 2024 (1 month apart). I came to her with 20/40 vision that required a strong prescription for me to see. I needed 2 pair of glasses to be able to see distance and a computer screen. I was impressed with her attention to my questions and confidence in her answers leading to a very successful outcome. I am very comfortable with her ability, her knowledge, her skill and her compassionate manner. The first surgery on the right eye was done so easily, that I was on my way home within less than 2 hours. That night after surgery, I was able to watch TV without any glasses at all. Dr Fine and her staff have been very professional through all my appointments and the various tests needed to prepare for the surgery. I highly recommend Dr Fine for anyone needing a skilled Ophthalmologist.

As a retired ophthalmology RN I selected Dr Fine for my care. She is knowledgeable she's a skillful surgeon and compassionate care provider. I recommend her highly for my family and friends.

Dr. Fine is superb. I'm a cardiologist and professor at Harvard Medical School, so I'm a bit demanding on my medical care. Dr. Fine is gentle, kind, thoughtful and professional. I'm sending my friends, family and patients to Dr. Fine. She's fabulous.

Dr Fine us the best ophthalmologist I have been treated by in more than 60 years. She is conscious, concerned, and thorough. When I had an emergency, she offered to return to her office to see me regardless of the time I was able to travel the 300 miles from my home. As well she has a wonderful personalized manner. I highly recommend Dr Fine.

Dr. Fine has given me excellent glaucoma treatment but I did not get a good result from a cataract surgery she performed. Also OCB (Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston) is a very greedy practice. It is run like a factory resulting in outrageous wait times and rushed visits with the ophthalmologists.
