Dr. Leah Lynn Najima, MD

Dr. Najima is a wonderful doctor. She is very skilled and tells your like it is. I feel like I’m in great hands with her and trust her as my medical professional

She was terrible.

I had Dr. Leah Najima as my OB/GYN throughout my pregnancy with my son. Her bedside manner was beyond hideous during all encounters. At the first visit, she had me shake my breasts for an exam. She also performed a transvaginal ultrasound for the first ultrasound instead of a traditional ultrasound. Before this decision, it was not explained why a transvaginal US would be chosen. Later in the pregnancy, she pressured me to be tested for diabetes. She said even a skinny lady such as herself had it. She implied that I, at 190 lbs and 5’10”, likely had gestational diabetes. I started the pregnancy at a healthy weight, however, and gained appropriately. I was tested and did not have gestational diabetes and she never apologized. She questioned my Filipino-born physician husband where he went to school. When he revealed he went to medical school in the United States, she balked. I have waited to review this doctor, but I do not want other women to experience what I did.

I had scheduled an appointment with Dr. Najima as soon as I found out I was pregnant. A couple of weeks before my appointment, I began to bleed. I called Dr. Najima to see if she could take me in sooner (per doctor request.) I was told by her office that Dr. Najima would review my file and give me a call later. She NEVER called me back!! I ended up having a miscarriage 3 days later. When I went to the ER the second time. The doctor recommended more blood work and a follow up with my OBGYN (which would be Dr. Najima.) The lab would not do hCG bloodwork requested by the ER doctor without a bloodwork lab request from Dr. Najimas office. When I called to request a bloodwork lab request, I was told that Dr.Najima would no longer see me. Their exact words were “she will not see you as you are no longer pregnant.” So they would not send a request over. I was told by her office to schedule an appointment with a regular gynecologist. When I called my insurance to give me a list of regular… gynecologist her name was listed on there! She could have still seen me! Long story short, I still do need an OBGYN to see that my miscarriage followed through without any further complications. She does not seem to care about her patients. Their lack of caring was beyond hurtful and stressful for someone who was just going through a miscarriage. I have never left a review before, but please find someone else. There are other amazing OBGYNs.

If you looking for a warm doctor who take time to explain things and make you confident and comfortable , please don’t go to DOCTOR LEAH NAJIMA. My experience with her was horrible on so many levels. I didn’t felt like she did even care. Plus their ultrasound wasn’t even in color. Since I had some complications, She recommended me Doctor Oki Earle. I loved him. ?? It was always a pleasure seeing him.

She seems like she’s been doing this far too long and needs to remember that we are having babies. If you’re a first time mom, I would recommend NOT to go to her. She is not warm and fuzzy. She did not listen to needs and she ended up being wrong, but took no responsibility. She checked on me in the hospital for about a total of of 3 minutes. She literally said “hi” and “bye.” I will not be seeing her for my second baby.

I never do these, but Leah has been doctor for close to 13 years. She has delivered both my children and I am so grateful to be a patient. I feel she has my best interest at heart and honest with me. I dont dread these appointments because it's always nice to see her. Love you Leah!

Dr. Najima was as useless as one can be in my experience! I was warned by a high risk specialist that my baby might be big in size and an early induction might be necessary. Najima ignored the warning and my induction was scheduled at almost 42 weeks. When I went into labor at 41 week she didn't show up at my delivery (nor any of the other 2 doctors that I was introduced to at Sierra Womanâ??s Health and was told would be her replacement in case she could not make it). So, I had a complicated delivery with some random doctor that was available at the time in Reno hospital. At my postpartum appointment she didnâ??t explain as to why none of those doctors I was paying to were not available, nor even bothered to apologized for not being there herself! Besides 3rd level tearing I had constant urinary incontinence, which she told me should go away after 3 month or so. When 3 month later I told her that the situation did not improve and besides scarring something doesnâ??t look right,… she told me it was all expected from delivering a big baby and if I wasnâ??t happy with the look of my vagina I should go to California and have plastic surgery. Later I found out that I have a case of prolapsed bladder and it is not just some cosmetic inconvenience as Dr. Najima said. I wouldnâ??t recommend her to anyone!

So many issues with this office! I went to Dr. Najima on the recommendation of my sister. First, I scheduled an appointment but miscarried. I called and cancelled. They called a few weeks later to confirm the appointment.... When I did go in to see Dr. Najima, things started off well. She was thorough and sweet. As time went on things really slid downhill. Her office staff is among the worst I have ever experienced! They rescheduled appointments often with very little notice or overbooked resulting in long wait times. They regularly rolled their eyes at me and were very snotty. I received confirmation calls for appointments 5 days out on Thanksgiving at 5pm and for an appointment 8 days out on Christmas Eve at 5pm. When I complained about the first call they told me they had no control over it. No apology was ever given. Dr. Najima gave me VERY bad advice after diagnosing me with gestational diabetes. I was struggling to get in to my MFM because of the holidays. Dr… Najima did a great job of scaring me about the seriousness of the situation but would do nothing to help me get the medication and treatment that I needed. I let her know that I was weeks out to get into the other doctor for treatment. Her office did try to get me in to see another MFM but to no avail....again due to the holidays. She told me to just cut out all carbohydrates to help keep my blood sugar down. I found out that is not recommended for pregnant women and it caused complications in healing from an injury. I didn't feel like my concerns were valid or heard. I am used to working with a doctor who makes me feel like partner in my healthcare--it is my body afterall! Her tone was often condescending. I tried to switch doctors very late in my pregnancy but my water broke before my appointment with the new doctor. After being delivered 6 weeks early by another doctor in the practice (Dr. Dearmont whom I also don't recommend), there was no concern from the office at all. I switched doctors for my follow-up and never heard from their office except with a letter saying they were super busy so I should schedule my annual months in advance. I would not recommend this practice or Dr. Najima to anyone.
