Dr. Leigh Ann Messinides, PhD

This therapist is too spread out in life to be a effective psychologist. The impressions this Veteran took away from the multiple meetings was; the therapist has more issues with her own life; how can she be trusted to solve anyone else's. From scatter brained notions about therapy and vague ideas about a plan; it's fair to say, the Veteran often walked away with a 'never again' feeling; resulting in the patient going elsewhere. Enough said, you have the picture.

I have been to numerous do tors and counselors and psychiatrist and pyschologist and of all of them, only two I can open up to freely. I was once an Orange County Firefighter....a career I loved and a career that was very hard to get in or even be considered for. I let it go, not understanding the reason I lost interest in both my career and life. Dr Messinides was leading a PTSD group at the VA Long Beach.The groud was more focused on combat vets. She started me on weekly sessions and went the extra mile to focus on fire fighter related PTSD. After several sessions I began to open up about my background, upbringing, and problems I held all my life. I benefitted more from her than any other doctor in the mental health field. Problem with her career is not many patients go back once they are feeling better. I know that many have said great things about her.

Perhaps the one person who should have given thought to another career choice. Perhaps this person has too many irons in the fire to be affective in any of her dealings with patients. Fore Warned Is Fair Warned
