Dr. Leo Bohdan Semkiw, MD

I was having knee pain. He was very thorough and took a cautious approach. Scheduled x-rays and then an MRI. He explained what was happening. I will probably need a replacement in the future but am doing fine after a cortisone shot. Nice having a surgeon who doesn't want to start cutting as a first resort.

I had a worn out knee cartilage and was looking for an Orthopedic Surgeon to make sure everything goes well. My best source was my family doctor of over 30 years, Dr. Fredrick Benson. Dr. Benson said “I recommend Dr. Semkiw, go and see him.” Dr. Semkiw is very polite, explains in details of any concern/questions and he has lots of patience and very soft spoken. I got my Total Knee Replacement surgery done by Dr. Semkiw at Goodsam Hospital. The second day of my surgery I walk 300 feet in Hospital. The heeling of incision was within two weeks. First few days I took only Advil for pain. It is a month now and I can walk for few miles without problem. I highly recommend Dr. Semkiw as he is great surgeon. I should also appreciate his staff members Roseline and Sabrina and others. Whenever I called during pre and post surgery, they always were courteous and prompt in replies. Sought a second opinion regarding care of my worn out knee. Recommended by a friend, a surgical scrub nurse at the same hospital (Who do you go to?) Dr. Semkiw restated what the 1st bone doc had said as to the damage, yet took the time to describe in sufficient detail our options. We elected to replace the joint; surgery, 3 levels of therapy were minutely scheduled and considerate of my needs at every step of the way. Excellent bedside manner, excellent and efficient staff. Highly recommended.

I was referred to Dr Simkiw after a bad experience with another ortho,my daughter had seen Dr Simkiw. I had a knee replacement at Good Sam and I can't say enough about the office staff, the doctor the ease of appointments, his PA Monica, I'm 85 and was up and about in no time after a complete knee replacement, I was in severe pain before the surgery which they helped with , can't say enough good things about this whole experience, I have shoulder pain and hope I can get help with that at this office.

I can not say good enough things about dr. Semkiw, his staff and everyone I had contact with. My son broke his shoulder over the weekend ,and I called the office first thing in the morning to see if dr. Can see him, and the receptionist Kristina was so kind and caring, and called back in less than 15 min. And we were able to see the dr. In less than few hours. I really recommend this Dr. And his office.

Dr Semkiw is excellent.He is the reason my 15 year old son now walks without a limp,my 90 year old mother was walking 5 days after total knee replacement and my husband will be seeing him shortly for his shoulder.

Dr. Semkiw performed my shoulder surgery, my mom's knee surgery, and my son's knee surgery. He tries to prevent the surgery and have it heal in other ways. He is a HIGHLY skilled,amazing,caring doctor.My friend who is a nurse recommended him, and I couldn't be happier.

Dr. Semkiw is a neighbor and was my choice for repairing a torn labarum in my right shoulder. Leo came highly recommended by three friends. Leo had performed had rotator cuff repairs in their shoulders, a similar procedure to what was required for repairing mine. All three had recovered well. Now there are 4 people, including myself, that would highly recommend Leo. His office staff, surgical staff, and his skill as a surgeon allow you to make the best of a bad situation! Post surgery follow ups, recommendations for rehabilitative therapy, and other personal touches make you feel like family, not just a patient.It roughly 12 months since my surgery and my shoulder feels great!
