One eye down, one to go with cataract surgery. I can’t say enough kind words about Dr. Townsend, Keegan, and entire staff. Excellent care all around.

Waited over 2 months for an appointment for my daughter to be checked when she was experiencing extreme light sensitivity. When we went to the appointment, we waited a half hour and had not even been called into an office yet. There were others in the waiting room who had waited much longer. We had to leave and the office staff commented that Dr. Townsend is always like this, very late with appointments and that she gets lots of emergencies that delay appointments. I told them that if it were always like this, then she is overbooking appointments. They said I should have asked for a different doctor since this was just a well check up. I had told them that my daughter was having painful light sensitivity when I scheduled - it was certainly not a well checkup. Am now looking for another doctor.

While technicians do most of the preliminary testing, etc., Dr. Townsend does explain the results. She answers questions thoroughly.

Dr. Townshend is compassionate & intelligent. She has been wonderful for all the years my family has been a patient of hers.

Dr Townshend scheduled my cataract operation and when I got to pre-op I commented that I would be so happy to not have to live with astigmatism from now on. The nurse said that this procedure would only correct astigmatism if it was using a Toric lens and that was not what the doctor had scheduled. When I asked why I was told the Toric lens cost more and I would have to pay the difference. Clearly I was in shock because that was a huge reason for doing this operation and Dr Townshend had completely ignored my wishes. During examinations she was very short and would not discuss anything in detail. If I had not asked the nurse before surgery I would have had a procedure I didn't want. I got up and left. Outrageous. Self centered Doctor. Shamefull. And reading her review so am not alone. If possible I would give less than one star.

After moving to the area 2 yrs ago I started seeing Dr. Townshed. During an exam she noticed scar tissue in my left eye and told me of a surgery that could be done. After trying drops for 3 months she told me to come in if it didn't work to schedule surger. Could not get follow up apt so at 5 months finally saw her and she never paid attention to why I was there, charged another co payment prescribed more drops and told "Oh Sorry try for 1 month if not working we will schedule surgery" Finally got surgery scheduled had to wait 2 months, had it schdueld day after my birthday, changed my own vacation, got coverage for my kids as I am a widow, cleared time off with job. All trying to get this done while buying a home. I get a call the day before surgery, after receiving the confirmation call from hospital confirming, after going to my primary and paying co-pay for pre-clearance. "We are so sorry but Dr. Townshed is going on vacation next week and will have to cancel your surgery". Less… than 24 hrs notice! The staff person who had to make this call got the brunt of my anger and was trying to do what she could to help. I insisted that Dr. Townshed call me personally and when she did she was very light hearted about the terrible mix up. The staff person told me that the vacation was not in the books when I scheduled and that the Dr. just looked at her schedule yesterday. But the Dr was very clear that it was the staff's fault. I find this EXTREMELY unprofessional. In a few months I will not have insurance and now have to start from scratch. I so hope the dear Dr. has a great vacation, far be it for me or any other patient cause her any disruption in her life.

I read these reviews before seeing Dr.Townshend I didn't see many stars, but thought I would see for myself.. I had to write and let you know how WONDERFUL my experience was from making appointment's scheduling surgery, to the surgery itself. Everything was explained, everyone was pleasant and professional. I would recommend Dr. Townshend to everyone and she did a great job on my surgery I am very pleased. Thanks to Everyone at Dr. Townshend Office

I have never encountered such a rude and rushed physician. My family will never return.

I have recently begun to see Dr. Townshend for a problem with my vision diagnosed elsewhere. I have never had a negative experience with my previous eye doctor, but I often found myself leaving appointments confused. I saw Dr. Townshend for a second opinion, and the difference was amazing. She explained exactly why I was having trouble with my vision, even drawing me a diagram so I could see the problem for myself. She didn't overwhelm me with technical details or talk down to me like I couldn't understand what she was saying. She was just really friendly and down-to-earth, and I ended up feeling like I now understand exactly what the problem is and what to do about it, and feeling way more relaxed about the whole situation. I just thought I'd post in a few places to say I had a great experience and I will definitely be switching to Dr. Townshend.

I would not recommend this doctor. She made the issues I was having with my eyes seem like no big deal. Rushed through my consultation and told me I had little baby cataracts and for me to come back in 4 months to see how they have progressed. I decided to get a second opinion and was told my right eye is stage 3 and the left eye is stage 4 cataracts. I will be having surgery soon to have them removed.
