Dr. Lori Anne Carrillo

The only positive thing I have to say about Dr. Carrillo is that our experience with her was very short lived. My wife recently gave birth, naturally, vaginally, to a healthy baby girl. We arrived to Banner Desert (great hospital) and from the time I hit the curb of the maternity wing to our baby being fully delivered was 7 minutes. My wife got into the delivery room with about 5 minutes and 3 pushes to go as the baby was already crowning. Our OB was not going to make it on time, and Dr. Carrillo was one of the OBGYNs on call. She came in, my wife was on hands and knees on the bed, already beginning to deliver as the baby was crowning. Dr. Carrillo very sternly told my wife to lay on her back. My wife said no, she was comfortable like this, and if she tried to turn it hurt herself as well as adding pressure to the baby's head which was beginning to come out. Dr. Carrillo again told my wife to get on her back. I told her my wife was going to stay that way to deliver the baby. … Dr. Carrillo pushed back from the bed, threw her hands in the air and said, "Fine, if you won't get on your back, then I'm not delivering your baby". I immediately told her to leave the room and she did in a huff. Two minutes later, another OBGYN came in, perfectly content with my wife as she was, delivered the child in about 2 minutes, and everyone was just fine, best recovery and delivery of our three kids. Dr. Carrillo was extremely rude, unprofessional, and added unneeded ego and stress to an environment that was already stressful enough. Maybe she is great with other patients, but I would HIGHLY recommend you look to work with an OBGYN who is going to support a delivering mother, will have some kindness and caring in her tone and demeanor, and who can check her ego at the door and be professional when needed.

The front desk is disorganized, the doctor is condescending and dismissive of your concerns. When I pointed out an error on their part she quickly shifted the blame to me. Their voicemail states that they will not call you with medical test results, and that you shouldn't bother leaving a message until it's been at least 2 weeks since your testing (WHAT?!) Best decision that I could have made was to change doctors, but you can decide just not to see her altogether.

on my first visit she did the ultrasound and she notice h my cervix was open and didnt tell me nor did much about it i found out on my ultrasound (in another office) to check the sex that my cervix was realy open and i had to go to emergency went to emergency and the emergrncy dr called her she told him not to do anything to send me to maricopa hospital. At maricopa hospital they didnt do anything cuz they didnt knw what was going on... 3 days pased and i started bleading so i went to emergency they took me in she came in and told me that she saw my cervix was open and didnt think to much of it but now that she couldnt be my dr anymore because she wasn't specialized for indangered pregnancy i asked her to recomend me to a specialist she said they costed a lot it was best if i went to maricopa...made my appoint. At maricopa i went they didnt have the recoreds from carrillo yet made another appoint. At Maricopa and they still didn't have my info and they couldnt schedule me to there… ultrasound cuz it would take a month called Carrillo's office and demanded them to send them my info they fanaly did the Dr had to read them over so she schedule me to another appointment the next week ( never mad it to that appoint.) I had to go to emergency because my cervix opened fully while i was at home and my baby was almost out.I had an early delivery that turned into a c section since I was 5 months and baby wasn't turn on his head. The Dr that was going to do my c section asked the nurse to call carrillo because she was the only one that has seen me through my pregnancy. The nurse came in and told us that carrillo told her she didn't know me. He had seen in my recore that she was my Dr. I had 3 appointments with her through my pregnancy. He didn't understand why she said that and he ended up doing my csection. (Sadly my baby passed away) I regrate going to her!!!

I will never go to her agian and anyone who tells me they are going to her I tell them my story. And, have limited family and no one to ask questions too. I had a difficult pregnancy and her staff refused to answer questions I had in regards to anything. I visited the hospital twice not once did she show any concern. She could care less about her patients. Finally at my last appointment she notices my son was Frank Breech which I had been telling her the whole time he hadnt turned. I am 4'9 and my son was 7' 7' lbs she decided at this point at 38 weeks she would schedule to have him turned. Well due to this I had to have a csection and my son was born with torticallis. She didnt stich me up right I actually had to have my next obgyn fix her mess when he delivered my second son. She never came to visit in my 4 day stay at the hospital. She seemed in a hurry to get me out of her office very impersonal doctor. I really wish I would have done more research and picked a doctor who cares… about there patients.

The best doctor. I would recommend seeing her.

I have been seeing Dr. Carrillo for nearly ten years. I have had a few health issues that required minor surgery - a LEEP, removal of a cyst on my overies, and a miscarriage that required a D&C. She performed all of these surgeries with great care and I had no complications. I have always found that she is easy to talk to and supportive. When I became pregnant the second time after my miscarriage she was extremely caring and cautious. She made sure to deliver my baby boy and the delivery went very smooth. She went above and beyond and was involved much more that what I hear most doctors are. She continues to be my gynecologist and I am so happy that I've been fortunate enough to find such a great doctor.

This Dr is completely unprepared to handle any pregnancy that isn't perfect. I was diagnosed with pre-eclampsia when it was too late for my baby to have any chance. I had signs of pre-eclampsia for months and the Dr never once looked into it. After helping to deliver my lost baby Dr Carrillo never came back to my room to check on me (3day stay at the hospital) and was useless to my care. I was handed off to another Dr that actually knew how to care for a high risk case. Do not trust this Dr with your care!

I saw Dr. Carrillo for my second pregnancy and delivery. I never had any negative interactions with her. I really liked her bedside manner, which is very important to me. I recommended her to my sister, who also had a positive experience with pregnancy and delivery in her care. I only stopped seeing her because I moved out of state. I would definitely recommend her again.

Do not even consider seeing this doctor! She does not take the time to review your records, dismisses your concerns and doesn't seem very knowledgeable. Her office staff is disorganized and doesn't return calls. I would not recommend having any kind of surgical procedure by her.

I should have written this review two years ago when this happened. I saw Dr. Carillo for 2 years and only for annual GYN check ups. The first year, as a new patient, she asked me my sexual history and grilled me about my current long term relationship. She told me that in order for me to continue to be her patient that I had to bring in HIS medical records and his recent blood work. I understand that my health care is her priority but this was pushing the boundaries. I kind of left baffled but didn't put too much weight into it. Still, it was on my mind when I was going in for my next annual appt. When I saw her I asked her about different birth control options (I was on the pill). She asked me why I would want to do that. I said that I had no plans to get pregnant soon and wanted longer term coverage. She then launched into how at 28, I was really "pushing it" on my time limit to have kids and that I needed to hurry up and get pregnant. That she shouldn't even be giving me… birth control pills as it was and that she wasn't willing to discuss longer term birth control methods. This was after she started the appointment by asking me how my "roommate" was. I couldn't figure out what she was talking about until I realized that "roommate" was her way of asking me how my boyfriend was (we don't live together and in fact are long distance). She wouldn't even say his name or title and suddenly wanted me to have babies with him! She ended the appointment by saying that she would reluctantly give me one more year of birth control pills but said that if I wanted more I would have to see another person in her practice who was willing to prescribe. She was actually cutting me off from birth control! I left in tears but once I calmed down got angry! What an irresponsible health professional (I myself am in healthcare)! God help a person who goes to her as a patient who has NO plans to have kids. I found a wonderful new place to go to who have never pressured me to go out and get pregnant or threatened to withhold birth control from me. Also, the "roommate" and I are still together, getting married and certainly won't be discussing our reproductive plans with her as I'm sure she wouldn't even see me since I am "over the hill" now.
