Dr. Mahdere Asfaw, MD

Being diagnosed with Type Diabetes, Dr. Asfaw has been my doctor for years. He listens intently, addresses my concerns, and answers my questions without regard to a clock! He helped me get my cholesterol well under control (161) and to get my triglyceride level almost within range (down 165). He worked with me to provide options to very expensive medicines and he is typically right on top of refill requests. On top of it all, his front office staff and nurses are very friendly and very competent. I will be moving out of state or I would be with him as long as it takes to reverse my Type 2 diabetes

I got a chance to see Dr. Asfaw for Graves Disease. He was recommended to my by a patent who had seen him in the past. I have to say he listened and explained my diagnoses thoroughly. I went to him for a second opinion but I was extremely happy with the way he explained my sickness. When I left his office after the first visit, I wanted to continue seeing him as a patent since he was professional, ,knowledgeable and patent enough to make me understand in simple words what I needed to do to get back to my normal self. I highly recommend him to anyone that needs an Endocrinologist. I have seen several Drs. but have to say DR. Asfaw was EXCELLENT!!

I was forced to use this Doctor by my health plan. I did not choose him. He did not want to hear anything about my thoughts on my condition, Diabetes for 18 years.....wanted to cut back my test strips to once a day...I have been on 5 a day for 18 years....even though my insurance covers 5 a day. I feel that he was condescending and thought he knew best.....because I was female fat and older....I do have a college degree....and a background in nutrition enough so that he should respect my opinion...it is my body..I live in it he sees me 5 minutes once or twice a year....I live in it all the time. I am fighting for my health....he could care less. I will find a new Dr.

Dr. Asfaw, unlike others was not ready to press the easy-button to get to next patient. He listened intently, ask many questions about lifestyle, diet, OTC and prescriptions, history of prescription meds, and like a detective prescribed a 60-day change in diet/medication and return for review. Found him very friendly and thorough and a good patient-doctor partnership. I will highly recommend him to a friend.

My overall experience with Dr. Asfaw was more than excellent. I been a diabetic for 16 years and has had several endocrinologist since retiring from the military and relocating to Minnesota. Dr. Asfew has treated me as if I was his ONLY patient. He spent quality time explaning and educating me on my condition. He was very, very professional and often follow up with me after leaving my appointments. During my 16 years as a diabetic I have NEVER had an endocrinlogist contact me after leaving my appointment and then went beyond his valuable time to make sure I understood my condition and was following his instructions.Dr. Asfaw will be truly miss by me. I am sure his other patients will probally feel the same. I will highly, highly reccomend his future patients when he relcoates. I really, really hate to see him leave. I credit Dr. Asfaw for making me aware of the danger of diabetics if you do not take it seriously.
