Dr. Marcos Antonio Lopez, MD

Dr. Marco Lopez has been my opthamologist for over 10 years. I was given an appointment with his Nurse Practitioner without being informed and I was not impressed with her knowledge beside her rudeness. I asked his office if for my next visit I can get an appointment with Dr. Lopez and was informed that it wasn't possible because he only saw cataract patients. I told them that I wasn't happy with the Nurse Practitioner and they said that nothing can be done. I told them that I really wanted to see Dr. Lopez. The receptionist spoke with someone and was told that if I didn't like it, I can leave. Dr. Lopez, you lost a loyal patient with Blue Cross Blue Shield PPO because your staff simply didn't care. Your NPP needs to have better bedside manners. I work in healthcare and was shocked that your staff doesn't care if you loose business. Thank you for all the services you provided me over the years.

The staff at Dr. Marcos A. Lopez made the entire process from initial, to the follow up eye exam a very positive experience. Wish he still sell glasses.

If I could leave no stars I would. This man made my 75 year old mother cry with his awful demeanor. He calls himself a professional??? He is rude, nasty, and unprofessional. DO NOT GO THERE

When he initially examined my 10 year old, I thought he was very rought around the edges but I figured it was just a quirk, his personality. I did research on him and didn't see any negatives online and I really appreciated his years of experience. My kid and I quickly realized he has an anger issue. He looks at my file and starts yelling at me because we didn't have a referral form from my PCP. In his own words "I don't discriminate against people with a state medical card so I won't see any of them unless they have a referral". Very contradicting statement and disturbing to say the least. When I opened his eyes to realize it isn't my job to enforce his policies about insurance and he is mis-directing his anger, he starts yelling at his staff to bring to him the poor woman who handled my paperwork. When the woman came in, he starts yelling at her about the same thing. I scheduled the appointment weeks in advance, filled all of my paperwork with accurate information, and provided my… kid's medical insurance card, that is all I am responsible for. The last thing I expected was to be yelled at in front of my kid, then see a staff member get yelled at during a routine eye exam, something that is normally less than $60 out of pocket. This is the City of Chicago and we have great specialists. There are other opthalmologists with great experience and it is hard to find a doctor, especially for your kid, however don't give up the search. Dr. Marcos A Lopez is not who you want treating your children.
