Maria Chilbert, DPT, FAAOMPT, SCS

Maria was born in Milwaukee and grew up in Wisconsin before going to Ohio for college. She graduated from the University of Findlay with an undergraduate degree in pre-physical therapy and a minor in Spanish in 2010. She completed her Doctorate of Physical Therapy in 2012. She immediately began fellowship training in manual physical therapy and completed the requirements for fellowship status in 2016. Maria completed her certification in dry needling in 2018 for all areas of the body and most recently became an APTA recognized sports certified specialist. Maria was awarded the 2021 APTA Wisconsin, Physical Therapist of the Year Award, for providing high level physical therapy care to improve communication and understanding in the Milwaukee Spanish speaking community. Maria has over 12 years of experience in the outpatient setting with specializations in neck, back, knee, ankle and sports injuries. Annually, she aids in medical mission trips to Guatemala as part of an orthopedic …surgery team, providing post operative care and rehabilitation of the patients.Maria also has a passion for sports and teaching, she played soccer at the collegiate level and continues to both play and coach in the Milwaukee area. She has taught joint mobilization courses for new graduates and physical therapy assistants. Maria volunteers each year with the Marquette University Pro-bono clinic to mentor/oversee student led PT sessions with community members. She loves to share her knowledge with her patients to give them a better understanding of their injury process, pain and how to make the best recovery.As a manual physical therapist I like to take a hands on approach to treatment to allow my patients to feel better as quickly as possible. I like to look at the whole picture and involve treatment to incorporate all areas that contribute to my patient's diagnosis.
