Dr. Mark H Dean, DO

Because of the extreme pain in my hip joints, I could barely walk even inside the house, but at my age (78) it didn't seem worthwhile to have surgery. I saw Dr. Mally in Dr. Dean's practice and he not only alleviated the pain but also encouraged me to have at least a consultation with an orthopedic surgeon. I had two hip replacements in 2010 and 2011 that changed my life! For the past several years, I have been enjoying long walks and the ability to do almost anything I want to do. (When Dr. Mally relocated to northern Virginia, Dr. Dean took over my care until he hired Dr. Chirichetti, and then asked me if I would be willing to change to the new doctor. Because of my confidence in Dr. Dean's judgment, I agreed and again had excellent treatment. I also have spinal stenosis and received injections from Dr. Dean (I believe three times), but the last one was in 2012 and I have been doing well ever since. The kindness and respect I received from all three doctors matched their skills, and… I am truly grateful to all of them for the care I received.

The Doctor is the doctor. He should be doing his job instead of hiring someone who has a hearing problem.

This doctor has been arrested for sexual assault, Jan 2018.

Dr. Dean has been managing my pain for several years. Because of his skill, I have been able to return to almost all of my former activities.

Everything was great, but the billing. It's why I can't leave a better rating. I was paying as I got my procedures, and I thought I was keeping up with the bill. At one point, I was told that the billing agency wasn't billing correctly and that the office was taking over the billing. I kept asking for a bill, but I was told it wasn't updated. Finally a month after finishing all of the procedures, I got hit with a bill for over $14,000. I took it to a lawyer because I thought the insurance was paying its part. Found out, the office charges well over the insurance rate, but doesn't tell you until after they do the work.

Dr. Dean is very professional with his patients. He takes time to explain and review all procedures before they are done. He is courteous to everyone he meets and he did an explained job on taking care of me. I would recommend him to anyone who has to live with pain. It's well worth a visit to Dr. Dean for help.

I was referred to Dr Dean after twenty years of chronic neck and back pain. My expectations were minimal as I'd been examined by a host of quality physicians sans relief. Following an in depth examination, I received multiple spinal injections. ( prolo therapy, sic spelling). My neck pain and stiffness was reduced by ninety five percent. Ten years later, my neck pain is minimal. Unfortunately, my back did not respond to the treatment. However, through the use of nerve blocks and medication, I am still on my feet. Dr. Dean has been a tremendous benefit. I am grateful we met. In response to one of the comments regarding "painful injections"; this treatment can be painful. However, the benefits outweigh a few moments of discomfort. Moreover, tolerance to pain is an individual experience. Please don't dismiss this treatment for threat of pain. Dr. Dean and his staff are professionals. They go the extra mile to make treatment as comfortable as is possible.

My doctor referred me to Dr.Dean and I was able to get a appointment same day due to my pain. Staff was very helpful and friendly. Dr. Dean spent time with me and was able to finally figure out what other pain doctors in this area have overlooked. My procedure was scheduled with ease and I really wish I would of found Dr. Dean years ago.He has two different offices and everyone there is very helpful. Wouldn't go anywhere else.

After getting the run around from the other local pain management practice in the area because I was told the doctor was on a vacation and they didn't know if he was going to return or not I found myself in Dr. Deans office. It turned out to be the best thing that could of happened to me. I finally found answers and relief that I was looking for. I am treated with compassion and understanding and finally getting my life back. If you are looking for a honest caring practice when you feel there is no hope I suggest that you make a consultation appointment with Dr. Dean. Him and his staff are truly there to take care of you and I am forever grateful.

I am actually the patient's parent but I scheduled the appointment and I spoke with her afterwards. My daughter is a student at UVa and her rib popped out of place during a severe coughing episode. She was in a lot of pain even with heavy duty motrin We knew what it was because it has happened before, but I couldn't get her home to PA to see our local DO. I did some research on the internet and thankfully found this practice. When I called his office and explained the situation they were incredibly helpful. They got her in same day as an emergency. Dr. Dean was extremely knowledgeable about her condition and was able to help her on the spot by doing the proper manipulation. I am extremely greatful for the care they provided and the compassion they showed to a student in need. Highly recommend them, especially to anyone with Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome.
