Dr. Mark Warren Fox

In early 2005 I had injured my low back, I slipped a disc and nothing was helping with the pain. In dec 2005 I visited with dr. Fox, he explained what was wrong and that even though I was only 19 he would still be for preforming the surgery. In fact he stated “Ill do surgery on a child if I feel they need it.” At that point I thought great! By that time I couldn’t stand up straight from the crippling pain. Jan 2006 I had the surgery done. Removal of the slipped disc, a cage placed between the two vertebra, a plate and 2 screws, and a partial fusion to the right side. Shortly after the surgery I had my follow up and that was the extent of my time with this doctor. A screw broke inside a vertebrae, I went 4 years with this and the pain until I was sent to another subpar surgeon. After doing research and reading reviews, I cannot say if the materials he used were FDA approved or not, the partial fusion also never took. Here I am 15 years later, 2 surgeries and still in immense pain. I… have severe bilateral sciatica causing nerve pain from my low back to my toes. I can no longer wear enclosed shoes because of the pain it causes my feet, they constantly feel on fire, I can only stand 10 minutes before the pain is so bad that I have to sit down. I can no longer sleep in a bed without waking up in pain and stiff as a board. I am now being sent through another round of specialists this time looking into a spinal cord stimulator.. I am disabled but the SSA doesn’t see that I am.

Had L4-5 Fusion in 2007. His bedside manor was rushed and abrupt, but he was very professional apart from that. If you a looking for a friend who will hold your hand after the procedure is done, this isn't the guy for you. However if you want a great surgeon, I do recommend Dr. Fox. Every doctor that has looked at my imaging since the fusion has told me it was done really well. I don't believe the cage he used was FDA approved at the time, but 12 years later, my fusion is rock solid. If I still lived in the area, I would go back to Dr. Fox.

He left me permanently disabled after a failed low back surgery! He lied to me and used non-FDA approved, experimental hardware in my back which broke! I also had a neighbor tell me he left him with a paralyzed arm after neck surgery.

I was evaluated and he looked at MRI records I brought with me. This was in 1996 in St. Paul MN. He told me specifically what was wrong with me. He explained it in terms that I could understand. My husband was with me. I found out later that what he diagnosed is very hard to diagnose correctly. He explained tethered cord, arachnoiditis, the lipoma that was left from a previous surgery, and explained that a test procedure using patch grafts for tethered cords was a possibility. Since this was experimental at this time, I opted not to try this because of the possibility of more scarring, another surgery, and ending up with the same tethered cord.

Dr. Mark W. Fox performed surgery on my spine in 1995 in MN. I was completely uninformed that he had used non-FDA approved and experimental hardware in my spine as it subsequently broke causing me a life time of pain and disability. He says he told me it was experimental and not FDA approved but the RN (friend) that was with me throughout the entire visit never heard this from him either. I feel he lied to me and now I have paid for it and will for the rest of my life. He never apologized for the damage he caused.
