Dr. Mark Paul Goodman, MD

I was a patient of Dr. Khvowitz for almost 40 years. He retired and Dr Goodman took over his practice. I made an appointment to see him and for the first three appointments he never once took my blood pressure or laid a hand on me. That’s not my idea what doctors do. I’m an 81-year-old man in good health still, the normal proper precautions checking my vitals seems to be something that every doctor has always done regardless of where I go or what age I am. I have a blood and urine analysis done on a semi annual basis. The tests are usually sent to Quest diagnostics who sends them back to the doctor in PDF form. Dr. Goodman or his medical assistant, if you could call her that, never got back to me with the results. I called several times and Karen got back to me and said she would send a test results. The young man that works for them, David, screenshot each of the test and sent it to me in a text message. Besides the fact that they were almost unreadable, it is very difficult to… compare them to the previous test. It was obvious to me that Dr. Goodman never even looked at them Because some of them were abnormal and no comments from him were ever given to me. As much as I tried to tell Karen what a PDF was, she couldn’t get it and I never got the test properly sent to me. I was recently sick and wanted to speak to Dr. Goodman or a doctor on call over the weekend. He doesn’t have an on-call doctor backing him up. So his new assistant Felitia called me on Monday to make an appointment and it took the better part of two days for me to see him and I was still very sick. I wanted to talk to Dr. Goodman before I wrote a review. I thought we could critique what happened to me and it would help his practice and perhaps the way he does his business. He did not want to talk to me, he almost threw me out of his office because I think Felitia probably told him what was coming as I had complained to her about it. Last but not least is the concierge fee. $750 for last year and $750 for this year. Dr. Khvowitz never charged me a concierge‘s fee. I might’ve felt differently had I been treated with the normal patient care that one expects when they go to a doctor. I think his methods are slipshod and someone disconcerting.

Unfortunately, Dr. Goodman does not seem to care about the years of billing issues under his management. He may be a good caring doctor but if he does not intend to fix his billing problems, it is a part of his reputation and poor management (ex. charge over $1000 for annual check up because the insurance codes billed under was incorrect or getting duplicated charges after payment made months ago). The billing problem that would take your time for years to clear (if ever happens), then he cannot be considered to be a good doctor. My blood pressure and stress level have greatly risen because of his practice.

This doctor's office billing practice is a nightmare. You will never hear back from them after numerous attempts to discuss over the bills that have been paid.

I was charged $1300 for a standard physical that should have been mostly covered by insurance, and repeated phone calls and messages to Dr. Goodman's billing office never resulted in a single call back. As a result, I never had the chance to dispute the bill -- and then I was sent a collection notice, demanding double the $1300. I finally settled with the collection agency, and am out $2,000 -- all for a routine physical that should have cost a lot less. And to this day I've never heard back from Dr. Goodman or his billing office. Dr. Goodman's office never even attempted to contact me before sending it to the collection agency. Beware -- I notice that others here have had similar problems. If you're not careful, you'll be scammed as well.
