Dr. Mark Ammaan Major, MD

Mark Major is a trash PCP. I used to go to him 5+ years ago and left after his and his staff's continued incompetence. My mother continues to see him but I am in the process of finding her a new physician. He loves to laugh and joke around while not actually listening or diagnosing anything - nor establishing a plan to address whichever issue a patient is having. As others have said, wait times are ridiculous - and he spends no more than 5-10 minutes with you, not even taking vitals or basic care functions. I honestly don't see how he still has his license. Wouldn't recommend him to my worst enemy.

AVOID AT ALL COST!! HORROR STORY BELOW! EXTREMELY UNPROFESSIONAL. TERRIBLE SERVICE AND COMMUNICATION. I visited Dr. Majors to address allergies/eye inflammation, sleep disorder, and a few other things. He was going to run some test, and have me come back. I got an email saying everything is okay/test were clear. They clearly weren't or I wouldn't have come in. Two months later, I went back for something else, and advised everything else I initially mentioned was still an issue. They took more blood and urine, but nothing got addressed. As a couple weeks passed, my eyes got worse. So I scheduled an appointment with Dr. Majors. I followed up with an email expressing my dissatisfaction, and that I wanted these issues to be taken seriously on this upcoming visit. I GOT AN EMAIL THE NEXT MORNING SAYING HE HAD TO GO OUT OF TOWN SO MY APPOINTMENT WAS CANCELLED!! I CALLED THE OFFICE, THEY STATED HE WASN'T THERE, BUT WOULD BE THERE THURSDAY. The day of my appointment!! Unbelievable! I… called to speak to him at the other location, and he had the nurse tell me, "He had a chance to look at your email last night and felt like the other specialist could help you more". So you cancel my appointment?! Then lie and say you're out of town? What?! Unbelievable. I will be sharing this every where I can. Also, Brenda Monroy, the previous review, works in his office. STAY AWAY!

My husband and I have been patients of Dr. Major for many years. We are extremely happy with his professionalism and caring service. He is always able to see us in a timely manner when making appointments. Our office wait is minimal.

I'm giving this office a 1 star because there isn't a lower option. I started seeing Dr. Major a few months ago, as I was looking for a doctor closer to my home. The first visit went fine except for them not sending my prescription to my pharmacy. So I left that as my notes in my first evaluation of the office, which Dr. Major later told me he doesn’t read. “The front desk staff does that.” Here are the issues I had: 1. Prescription filling – This office does not provide written prescriptions. They only submit prescriptions electronically. For each of the three (3) prescriptions, my pharmacy NEVER received them. The office blamed the pharmacy but I’ve had the same pharmacy for over 6 years and they always received prescriptions that were sent electronically by other physicians, including tele-health physicians. After the first time, I always asked for a written prescription. Once they gave me a printed summary and the last time they told me I wouldn’t need one that they’d… submit it immediately. They didn’t and I had to make a second appointment with a tele-health doctor in order to get the pain medication I needed. 2. Multiple appointments for the same issue. Every time I would schedule an appointment for something, Dr. Majors would briefly talk to me about the issue, then schedule a second appointment for a “test” or “procedure” for the following week. The last time he did so, when I’d arrive for the second appointment he said, “I’ve decided to send you to a specialist.” He did not perform the procedure I waited a full week for but planned to bill me again. Once I received a bill from his office, for another appointment that was supposed to be for a test/procedure where he ended up giving me a referral, my insurance, as I noticed my insurance had made a payment as well. My insurance company called with me on the phone and asked to speak to the biller. The person said they’d transfer but asked if they could have some basic information. Once the insurance rep provided some basic information, we were told the biller was not in and that she’d call me the following day to discuss. The following day I received a call from Dr. Major, not the biller. During the call, he stated his perspective and I started to state my experience, during which he kept trying to cut me off. Then he said, “people in my office are starting to say you are a complainer. May be you need to come get your files.” I was in awe. If you are looking for a doctor, I support the majority of the other reviewers and encourage you to find another one. The "second appointment for additional tests/procedures" gets him a second co-pay AND the ability for them to bill the insurance two times for what should be done during one visit (with the procedure or with the referral), all while you are waiting a full extra week for treatment. Like one of the other reviewers, I really thought this doctor was a good man, until I received the direct call from him, instead of his biller. It was obvious to me that he called to make sure I did not return. I think the call from the insurance company sealed that.

Personal touch and followed up personally, what physician still answers calls from patients.

I called the bad doctors office last year for a routine exam. When I did, his crazy female receptionist who I believe is hispanic, being Silver Spring, MD and her accent put the phone on hold. She then started talking crazy talk about insurance. "Your insurance company is going to cancell you in the next couple of months." I said uh sure. I called my insurance company and they said "We are not cancelling anyone insurance. If we were going to we would write you. We're the only people who make that decision. Not their office." Three days ago, that nut called my house randomly harassing me with her crazy talk."Your insurance company is going to cancell insurance." I filed a complaint against Dr. Major for violating insurance polices. There are too many people coddling (look it up it mean enabling and babying) bad females who have severe problems. No one is to go through that for that wacko. She has no family values is a criminal.

I can't say enough good qualities about Dr. Majors. He's very thorough in his diagnosis. One of the most caring doctors I've ever encountered. You know immediately that he will research whatever ails you and promptly and accurately refer you to the correct specialist. He's the best!!!
