Dr. Matthew Francis Aiken, DO

Dr. Aiken recently took care of my mother durng her stay at Spotsylvania Regional Hospital. Mom's admittance to the hospital and subsequent diagnoses were all a big shock to our entire family. Dr. Aiken made us all feel at ease immediately and took the time to talk to my mom and dad as if they were old friends just having a comversation. Not just a bunch of medical mumbo jumbo - he took the time to explain everything they were doing and everything they found. Even if Dr. Aiken wsn't directly involved in the testing mom was having done that day, he would take the time to come see her when everything was done to see how things went and to see if she needed anything. At one point, Dr. Aiken pulled out his cell phone and asked my mom and dad if he could show them something - and proceeded to show mom and dad his adorable sons! Not many doctors would take the time to bring you into their personal life even a little bit - but Dr. Aiken did! it was also nice and especially pleasing for… my mom and dad to learn that Dr. Aiken used to live very cloe to where we lived for many years up in New England. My parents being able to shed some fun and joking with the doc into a very stressul and upsetting time, was so very appreciated.Our only diappointment was that Dr. Aiken does not see patients outside of the hospital, so mom will not be able to continue to see him as a patient - however, Dr. Aiken has provided her with a listing of some good doctors that he recommends and I have no fear if Dr. Aiken rcommends them, they will be just as good as he is!Please note - the only reason i didn't rate ALL teh qeustions here is because Dr. Aiken DOES only see patients in the hospital, so I'm unable to rate him on ease of getting an appointment, time waiting in his office, office staff professionalism, etc. It's not that I didn't want to/wouldn't have rated him on thos aspects, but since we only saw hi inside the hospital, I felt it best to simply leave those areas blank. I have all confidence, however, that if Dr. Aiken did have an office outside of the hopsital and saw patients there, that my ratings would be the same as the areas I was able to rate.You can rest assured if Dr. Aiken is your doctor whil in the hospital, you will be well taken care of - not only your medical needs, but also your emotional needs.
