Dr. Matthew Wayne Butrum, MD

I love LOVE Dr. Buttrum! He is the best doctor that I have ever gone to in my entire life! having epilepsy is a very scary thing so it is very important to find a doctor that you are comfortable with and can feel like you can talk with him and are actually being heard! I could talk to him about anything and he would never rush me out of his office to get to another patient. he made sure that everything I needed was taken care of and any questions I had were answered any way that I could understand them. and his nurses are so helpful and polite it felt like they were my group of friends not just staff at a doctor's office! if you are considering him as your doctor I fully recommend that you jump on it because I promise that he is a one-of-a-kind Dr and you will never regret the decision of making him your healthcare provider!

I have been a patient of doctor butrums for almost 5 yrs. I have very advanced epilepsy that is all over my brain instead of it commonly being in one area. since i first started seeing him i have had to pregnancys that my epilepsy has affected in horriable ways. I am currently pregnant and just got out of the hospital because i had 3 grandmaulls in 24 hours so i need to have the baby looked at. I dont generally go to the hospital tho. I have continued to feel "not right" which most the time means i will soon have a seizure. This happened to fall on a friday. I tried paging Dr. Butrum because he is on call. The after hours nurse was able to get ahold him and informed him of the continued seizures and i was told "to call back monday". All i can do is pray nothing happens to my baby because the lack of care i am recieving. I have to see him due to insurance reasons but if i had a choice i would NOT continue seeing him.

Office staff was very friendly but also very anal about printing out medical information. Wait times were pretty quick and only 10 minutes at the most. His office has been always empty so it makes me wonder if other people have had the same poor treatment/visits by him and chosen another doctor to see. Dr. Butrum has very poor bedside manners. He could care less about you as a patient and heard this from another patient as well. He is very quiet and you as a patient have to basically pry information out of him to get an answer. Even then, they are short and seem to lack knowledge of the situation. Dr Butrum acts like he doesn't care to be there. He rather be somewhere else it seems. As a patient you will want to steer away from him. I have seen him twice now. After hearing complaints from other patients in the waiting room, I've decided to go with a much better doctor who actually cared in treating you.Don't waste your time or money here. There are much better professional neurologists… in Provo!

My over all experience was pretty good, at first he seemed like he knew what he was talking about... then after a few visits he just wanted to experiment with pills. He isn't enthusiastic he seems to have only one mood that's calmly strict kind of mood. He is a good doctor if he knows what he is dealing with. I didn't feel he knew how to meet my needs.
