Dr. Meghna Kumar-Pelayo, MD

Dr Pelayo - thank you so much for treating me with respect and openness and caring manner everytime I see you. This extends from the office staff all the way to Dr Pelayo, and her colleagues. She has been treating me for 3 years now for epilepsy, and spends time to answer my questions, no matter how trivial. I know when I see her, she will tell me straight-forward what I need to hear, in a caring manner. I had a different neurologist / different facility prior to meeting Dr Pelayo, and I can honestly say, she is the most qualified and most professional doctor I have met and I thank Dr pelayo, and her staff, and her colleagues for having such a wonderful medical practice.

She texted continually throughout the initial consultation with a friend, not bothering to listen as my son recounted symptoms of seizures that I am absent for. Didn't care about any other neurological difficulties possibly caused by the traumatic brain injury, focusing solely on the seizures. Insisted on using *only* on the drug group that would increase my obesity levels.. When SSI was mentioned, she latched onto it all too quickly as a way to bully me into taking inappropriate medication rather than help me get better, document well, or manage my increasing difficulties with memory loss. Her assistant (seen prior to and afterward) was polite and attentive.

I have been dealing with epilepsy for approximately 10 years. I have had multiple neurologists and I found that generally medication is the major change between neurologists. But not with her. Within one year she had me on a completely different path that could possibly cure my epilepsy totally. I'm now preparing for a possible surgery at USF Health that was not even propositioned me previously and hoping for the best. If you're looking for a good neurologist that will actually take the time to research your record and help you find the best plan whether it be treatment or curing your neurological issue she is the way to go.
