Dr. Michael Jon Chmell, MD

I had my Left Knee Joint replacement done 5 years ago and had excellent results. Two of my friends have had both of their knee joints replaced prior to my surgery and they were very pleased with their results, that is why I wanted to go to Dr. Chmell and I am very glad I did.

I had no problems with my surgery or the doctor. He exceeded my expectations. He was very professional. The whole staff from the beginning to after surgery has been great to work with. I would recommend Ortho to anyone.

I am completely satisfied with my total knee replacement by Dr. Michael Chmell. Everything was explained, scheduled, and went as planned. I felt well cared for every step of the way. My success seemed as important to them as it was to me. They made me feel relaxed and confident. I am very glad I chose Dr. Chmell and OrthoIllinois.

Dr. Chmell was incredible. Having a low pain tolerance i avoided knee replacement surgery for over 3 years...to the point of hardly being able to walk. He was professional and did an excellent job. I will definitely have my left pne done when th right is completely healed.

Dr. Chmell is an excellent surgeon. He did a complete left knee replacement for me, and I was surprised by the concern for my pain control. Approximately six weeks after the surgery, I had questions, and even though I did not have an appointment, I visited his office hoping to talk to a nurse. Instead I was seen within an hour, x-rayed, and met with Dr. Chmell, who reassured me that all was progressing normally. I highly recommend Dr. Chmell.

The surgery took 31 minutes from the time I entered the operating room. Post-surgery I was able to walk without crutches or cane or walker and experienced only minimal pain. He answered all my questions and explained what he was about to do. I would recommend him to anyone for this surgery.

I HAD A LEFT KNEE SURGERY WITH DR. CHMELL AND I WAS VERY PLEASED WITH THE OUTCOME AND HIS SURGICIAL SKILLS. I HAD ALMOST NO PAIN AFTER THE SURGERY.

Showed complete arrogance at all pre-op appointments which I hoped meant he was just so good he was arrogant. No! He is just arrogant as I had to have my replacement redone by another surgeon. Does not respect his patients nor have any concern for pain. After waking from surgery, he asked me how I was feeling. I replied, "In a lot of pain, knee hurts really bad." He responded something to the effect of you'll be fine, dont be a such a baby!!! Avoid this scalpel jockey.

Dr. Chmell did surgery on my knee and will be doing the same surgery on my other knee. He is an excellent surgeon who takes every possible percussion to make sure his patient will remain infection free and get the physical therapy they must have for complete success. I would and do recommend him to any one who asks!

Was referred this this "doctor" for lack of better term. Although the nurse had confirmed my meds, he was aware of them. He did not introduce himself. He barely reviewed my Xrays that he had requested nor the MRIs that I had brought. He did not look at my knees and left me crying in the room. I will never return to him - a great disappointment!!!!!!!
