Dr. Michael Mccaffrey, MD

Don't waste your time with this clown. He does not pay attention to what you are saying and is preoccupied thinking about something else. His nurse was rude and obnoxious, to say the least. I will be looking for another doctor.

I have been seeing Dr.Mccaffrey for about 10 years now and he never ceases to amaze me with his knowledge.I saw the doctor once because my G.I doctor could not fiqure out the problem and he solved it quickly as he has with my siezures and Parkinsons.I wouls not go to anyone else and highly recommend.

I can’t quite figure this whole situation out. I first went to him because my other doctor provided medicine that was too strong so I liked Dr. McCaffrey ‘s more evasive, ‘oh you’re fine’, approach. I wanted to hear that and he actually had disagreed even with George Dr. Sandoz’s diagnosis of my having a stroke. Didn’t think too much of it until the time came when I felt I needed more help. Alls he did just keep my RX running. I was having more problems, even disability started contacting me, but McCaffrey said I didn’t need it. In the process though he admitted that he had not even looked at my records, and blamed it on the fact that they were not given to him when Grandstrand neurology parted ways (did he even request them since I was now his patient) So then did agree to look st them if I sent them to him. So I did. Never heard back from him, even though I got in contact with them to see if he had read. The office folk also low star....gave me a self pay price, I paid it, then… they tried to file it against my cancelled insurance. Called them about it , then the office folk wouldn’t even make appointments with me. I gave a Low rating that disappeared. Found that to mysteriously be missing from the reviews (wonder if any others are) So I am writing a 2nd review Idk, what do you think of all of this because it is true. IT WILL GO DOWN TO ONE STAR IF THEY DONT TRANSFER MY RECORDS WHEN I REQUEST THEM FOR ANOTHER DOCTOR!

I have been a patient of Dr. Michael McCaffery for years and he is still a wonderful and pleasant man much less doctor. Even though the Botox shots hurt l still feel he is one fantastic doctor. Ms. Marie Jones

What a joke! Went to The SC Spine Institute and when the physician there asked if I saw a Neurologist and told him who, he laughed and said, "find a new neurologist immediately. I know Dr. McCaffrey and um, no, you need another specialist". My experience was horrible. Pill pusher, just sayin!!

I had to wait 4 months to get an appointment and he only spent less than 10 minutes with us. I told him my symptoms of dizziness, falling, hearing loss, headaches, vision impairment and shaky hands. I had a history of carotid artery surgery a few years ago. So he said I didn't have NPH because I wasn't incontinent. He rambled on about how his father and 2 brothers had carotid issues and heart problems and told me to go to those doctors. All my heart and vascular tests and scans showed no problems. Our primary doctor, sent me to a neurosurgeon, who diagnosed NPH immediately. He verified it with a lumbar puncture, which cleared up 99% of my problems within 12 hours. The neurosurgeon performed shunt surgery last week and my symptoms have disappeared.

I have never had a problem with Dr. Mccaffrey. His staff is always helpful and he is willing to listen and offer suggestions. Wish there were more MD's like him. Barbara Hammond

I have tremors in my left hand, so I went to Mccaffrey. His diagnosis - early Parkinson's. It may be true, but it was how it was delivered. He stated that I have 15 years and then my airway will close? He gave me a prescription and said come back in three months. No scans to see if it was something else? I now have an appointment at MUSC and have an MRI scheduled. Was he correct - maybe. Did he have any empathy - no.
