Dr. Michael Joel Strachan, MD

Dr. Strachan is a joke of a doctor. He needs to be put out of business. Totally mis diagnosed what was going on with me. No Xrays No mri done no nothing. Wasted 8 months going to pysical therapy that didnt help. Ended up going to a different doctor who found out what was wrong. Ended up having a torn labrum and had a bone spur in my shoulder so i ended up having surgery. Would have never known this because Dr. Strachan didnt care and i ended up going elsewhere to get my shoulder fixed. Bad doctor!!!

I would not recommend this doctor. Saw this doctor 8 months ago and didnt fix my problem. Had to go back to see my primary care doctor. She couldn't believe Dr. Strachan didnt do any xrays or a mri. After i saw her she sent me to see an orthopedic surgeon. The orthopaedic surgeon did xrays and mri. Come to find out i had a labral tear and multiple cysts in in my shoulder. None of this was done by Dr. Strachan he just sent me to therapy. This guy is a joke. I would never recommend him to anybody.

After years of multiple issues I finally got the diagnosis that answers why I am who I am. Dr. Strachan is very knowledgeable and confident. Good bedside manner. Staff are great as well. Highly recommend

Very unprofessional. Did not take the time to listen..did not meet my medical needs. Seemed like he didnt want to help me get well. Didnt care i was in a lot of pain. I left there with the impression all he was about was getting paid and not helping patients. Still in alot of pain. Going to find another doctor.

I have been going to Dr. Strachan since 1997. He is the best.

I waited two months to get into see Dr. Strachan, as he came highly recommended. From the time he walked into the room, it was less that one minute before he had diagnosed me and darn near written the prescription. I found him to be very condesending. When he answered my questions, it sounded like he was pre-programed and reading from a script. Not only did I feel rushed once he came in, I felt like I could not get out the office fast enough because of how pompass he came across. Even if he is the best doctor in the area, I still want someone to take just a few short minutes to hear what I have to say. I am a person, not a number....

I've been going to Dr. Strachan for almost two years now. He was highly recommended to me by a friend. While I believe he is extremely intelligent, he doesn't seem to want to hear what you have to say or hear about any new symptoms you have from your RA. It really is discouraging to drive 1 1/2 hrs. to go see a doctor for a total of about 10 minutes. Doesn't seem like it's worth the time or the money. Currently looking for new Rheumatologist who is willing to spend a little more time with me and listen to my concerns and complaints. Of note, the office staff and nurses will definitely be missed, as they have always been nice on the phone and in person!

Was not personable. Had poster of Marilyn Monroe in his office. In my opinion, very inappropriate in a professional environment. His office notes were condescending. He did all the talking and did not listen to me. Was not interested in other symptoms I had that occurred during this flare up. Unhelpful. Misrepresented what I said.

He saved me from ruin. I love him and his staff.

Dr. Strachan is a top-rated rheumatologist in Richmond (Richmond magazine Top Docs). He's obviously very smart doctor and seems caring. He did a good job with diagnosing me, but when I have office visits I feel rushed. Maybe he should schedule patients further apart?
