Dr. Mike Chen is an excellent neurosurgeon. He is treating me through the City of Hope, and every clinician and health care professional I have encountered before and after my surgery has expressed to me their praise of him and his surgical skills. I am personally very pleased with my recovery from surgery and Dr. Chen's professional manner.

Dr. Chen is an amazing surgeon. Operated on my back L2/L3. 4 days after surgery I was walking around. spent 7 days in in-house rehab. released to home 11 days after surgery. No pain, no pills. Amazing results

Dr. Chen performed a posterior Corpectomy of C2 with a spinal fusion from C1 to C4 on my mom two months ago and we couldn’t be more pleased with the outcome. She was in excruciating pain and could barely walk prior to her surgery. Honestly, I was extremely anxious and worried about the procedure, but after our first consult, I was confident that everything was going to be okay. Dr. Chen explained every aspect of the surgery so we knew exactly what to expect and most importantly what I needed to do to help in her recovery. In just two weeks post-op she could walk without any problems and was pain-free! Within a month, she was back to her everyday activities, including walks, trips to the grocery store, and most household routines that she thought she’d never do again. We both will forever be grateful to Dr. Chen for his talent and expertise, he truly is an asset to City of Hope.

Excellent neurosurgeon doctor who does not only explain all details and cares about patients but also did a great job to save my mom life. Her surgery was 6 hours long. It was challengle and complicated more than expected, but Dr Chen has done it successfully. After the surgery he came and discussed with me about the result of the surgery and how he did, I could tell he was exhausted and how much efforts that he put into the surgery, but all he cares was about my mom and he tried his best to help her. My mom is healing day by day, she can walk slowly. Thanks so much for Dr. Chen who is not only an outstanding doctor but also he has a great heart of an angel.

Dr. Chen did a great job for my L4-L5-S1 fusion two months ago. I could not walk for more than 15 minutes but now the problem is all gone. I am walking freely without pain. This week I return to office and my life is back to normal. City of Hope is a very nice place. It is not just a cancer center. They provide non-cancer surgery for spine patients, too. Thank You! I have had lumbar spine issues for the past five years. I am permanently disabled because of it. The specialist I was seeing wanted to insert a neural transmitter into my spine to relieve the pain. This would have solved the pain issues, but not the back issues. I sought a second opinion and was sent to Dr. Chen. He has a very straight-forward manner, and let's you know what you're in for up front. I had my L5 disc replaced and fused. That was four months ago. My flexibility is better now, and I only get pain when I overdo it. I still have 6-9 months of healing to go, but I am already able to ride my motorcycle again. I'm way better off than having a transmitter installed to mask my pain.

Mike did a Discectomy with a Fusion of the cervical spine for me. I am able to move again! Mike is not only a great surgeon, but he and his staff are kind, down to earth, and as eager to help as can be. He answered any questions that I had and explained what I could expect from the surgery and the recovery. I would recommend Mike to anyone needing a neurosurgeon. His specialty is spinal cancers.
