Dr. Mona Athea Kaleem, MD

Unable to recommend. Very disappointing. Got the prescription wrong several times. Shows little interest and spends the shortest time possible with the patient. Go somewhere else.

I underwent a cataract and glaucoma surgery with Dr. Kaleem recently and am very happy with the results. I felt that she spent a good amount of time with me explaining my diagnosis and the surgery to me. I would recommend her to others looking for a good eye doctor.

I was referred to Dr. Kaleem by my primary eye doctor to see about doing surgery on me. I have a bit of a complex medical history and I was nervous about having any other procedures. Dr. Kaleem is very kind and took good care of me. She is good at explaining things. I'm now 2 months out of surgery and seeing better than before. I'm really glad I was referred to her and plan to stay under her care in the future.

I was referred to Dr. Kaleem by my family ophthalmologist for a second opinion on my glaucoma diagnosis. I found her practice to be very clean and organized. They had a lot of new technology like a machine that took a picture of my optic nerve. I was impressed with the thoroughness of her examination. I would definitely recommend her to others and I'm glad I was referred there - I was able to save myself from needing a complex surgery.

My 90 year old mother sees Dr. Kaleem for glaucoma. Mom is hard of hearing and asks a lot of questions. Dr. Kaleem is always very patient with her. She did a laser procedure on Mom last year that got her off most of her eye drops which she was extremey happy about. The staff in the office is also very kind. Sometimes there is a wait in the office, but it is worth it to be able to see a doctor who really cares. We will keep going back to Dr. Kaleem and I recommend her to others as well.

Dr. Kaleem is a wonderful physician - I have been her patient since 2014. I have glaucoma, and she explained: (1) what that meant/ why I was diagnosed; (2) what I could do to slow down progression of the disease; and (3) alternative options to medication (i.e., surgery) as well as homeopathic solutions to reduce the side effects of the medication. She explained everything in a way I was able to easily understand. She made herself immediately available for daytime consults when I had urgent questions or issues (i.e., when I got pink eye). She is renown all over the US due to her research - Baltimore patients are lucky to have her.

I started seeing Dr. Kaleem a year ago for cataract and glaucoma. She is a very personable and caring doctor. She was thorough and seems very knowledgeable. So far, she has been the only doctor who explained my condition to me in a way that I (a non medical person) could really understand. Dr. Kaleem performed surgery on both of my eyes, and now I can see clearly without glasses and was able to get off of my glaucoma eye drops. I am really grateful to her and her staff for excellent care. I recommend her to all my family and friends now.

Dr. Kaleem' s demeanor and attitude were inappropriate. She failed to ask any questions, which led to higher likelihood of inaccurate diagnosis. In addition, she did not provide any explanation for self-management.
