Dr. Omar Baring Cabahug, MD

I like the doctor. I found him very thorough, ran lots of tests, and he was able to significantly improve the issue I came in for. My first visit the staff was not very friendly, but I've had no complaints since then.

I didn't know how to rate Dr. Cabahug because in all fairness, I walked out before being seen for my 1st appointment. After spending 35 minutes completing the new patient forms, I was nearing the end when I noticed a $75 fee for being 15 min late - $25 is more the norm. But what sent me walking was a 2% fee for using a credit card to pay your bill. My bill would be about $275 per quarter. I find this outrageous and also way out of line with standard of medical practice. Just nuts. (Also, there weren't enough seats in waiting room - I got the last one and person behind me had to go outside.)

I was very happy with my first visit with Dr. Cabahug. He was very friendly, knowledgable and explained information in an easy to understand way. His office staff was friendly and timely as well. I would recommend Dr. Cabahug to anyone needing a neurologist.

I am writing this review based on my husband's recent office visit. We were referred to Dr. Cabahug by my husband's Cardiologist. This was only his second appointment with Dr. Cabahug. The doctor seemed well qualified and professional but was a little bit short with my husband who has Parkinson's Disease. My husband asked the doctor to repeat something about results of a Head/Brain MRI. The doctor seemed irritated. But the main reason for our low rating was his receptionist/secretarial staff. We could never get in touch with the office. Every time we called we had to leave a voice message. The calls were either never returned or returned many days later. The person (sorry, I don't have a name) helping us check out was very rude, unprofessional, unfriendly and short with us. She gave us a follow-up appointment without bothering to ask if that date and time would work for us. I questioned the date because I thought the doctor said he wanted to see my husband in a couple of… weeks, not months. She was defensive and stated that a couple or a few weeks meant 6 - 8 weeks even though the doctor said weeks and specifically stated not months from now. When I started to question her again, so that she could check with the doctor, she interrupted me and let me know in no uncertain terms that that was the best she could do because they are very, very busy (maybe they need more staff or the staff they have cannot do their job). Anyway, we will probably give the doctor a chance with a couple more visits. But if it stays this way, we will look for a new Neurologist.

Uncaring, impersonal physician

Dr. Cabahug is an excellent provider. He takes time with his patients and expresses sincere interest in my needs. Most importantly, I can TRUST him. His staff is just as excellent! Particularly, Rhonda, she is always happy, upbeat and compassionate. She takes extra time to ensure my needs are met timely and appropriately. She is an excellent professional, takes time to listen to my needs and ensures my appointments meet the needs of my ever changing work schedule, and finds appointments to accommodate my schedule, TIMELY, if I need to reschedule. I have and continue to recommend this physician and his practice to my friends and family. Dr. Cabahug has changed my life and increased the quality of my life by enabling me to continue to work and stay mobile when I thought I would never be able to do so.

Watch out for Dr. Cabahug. He doesn't actually diagnose anyone, just assumes its B-12 deficiency and refuses to look down any other path than this snake-oil. I had MRIs showing tumors or lesions on the brain, did follow-up and when I was supposed to get these life-changing results, Dr. Cabahug cancelled my appointment because I had not done B-12 followup bloodwork (which had NOTHING to do with the MRI). Worse, his office only told me they would cancel my appointment for such a stupid reason on the very day of the appointment. To heck them. I am getting my records and finding another doctor, one w/o an agenda. I need real help, not someone useless like Cabahug. I need a doctor that thinks for himself.

Very good doctor, but the staff leaves a lot to be desired.

Dr Cabahug doesn't spend a lot of time with each patient and it is almost impossible to get prescriptions filled in a timely manner. You have to call and hound them and then the office staff gets argumentative and rude.

Dr Cabahug was very knowledgeable and thorough. It is difficult to get a hold of him otherwise. You have to go through his staff who are very sub standard. They are not friendly, considerate, or knowledgeable. They do not return phone calls. My husband had what was either a mini-stroke or a severe reaction to his medication. I called the office and talked to a "staff" member who said that they would get back to me after talking to the doctor, and she did not. I should have taken him straight to the emergency room. Why can't a patient speak to a doctor on the phone? Is it because they can't charge for that? Do they think that they are to good to talk to the patient? One of the major reasons patients or patients families sue doctors, hospitals, etc is that they act like they do not care? The perception is that they are too busy to care about the people behind the disease. I would recommend that you find another doctor. You will be disappointed in Dr Cabahug's office.
