Dr. Patricia J Gillar, MD

Had the worst Dr encounter on Friday ever! Do not go to see Dr Gillar, she is an endocrinologist. I’ve found several similar experiences reported on Google reviews I wish I had seen beforehand. We arrived to find out that NONE of my blood test results were back. My husband asked, "Why did we have to come in and pay $25 to hear nothing is complete yet? Couldn't that have been done over the phone?" Apparently that was the wrong thing to ask because we then earned a lecture on how we shouldn't be bothered by paying a copay to go in to an appointment where NONE of my labs were complete because their office is stretched thin enough as it is and she is offended and no one wants to be doctors any more and they're working through lunch and she still took the time to meet with me and they don't have the staff to check on labs being completed and move the appointment if they aren't complete yet. All of this done while the door was open and she was halfway in the hallway. Shockingly… unprofessional. I held my hands up, modeled a deep breath like I do for my children and told her we appreciated her and understood and didn't mean to offend her. Needless to say, I am going to a new doctor after this! Any OTHER endocrinologist recommendations? I have a history of thyroid cancer in my family and require frequent monitoring appointments. ETA: she didn’t even order any thyroid labs to be done among the other ten or so things we were testing for. I missed it because I’ve just been so tired I didn’t even think to check for that. I’ll take some responsibility because I know better how to advocate for myself but I still shouldn’t have to do that.

Seems like she thinks she knows how to treat you before even listening to your concerns .

Dr. Gillar is straight forward and direct. She asked questions about my diet and general health as well as my emotional state. She order tests that helped answer my questions about my health. She is science based and thorough. I appreciate her approach to keeping me healthy.

Most abrasive and uncaring Dr. I've seen.

I visited dr 3 times, with the same set of questions each time. None was answered on ANY of my visits. Very poor patient relations. She discarded my 90-day CGM printouts because 6 of the 90 days were on an insulin pump; the remaining 84 were on Tresiba. She said the results were invalid because of the 6 days on the insulin pump. She also didn't know that my diabetes drug, came in a 100-U dosing pen. She argued with me over this. Also got sick because she changed my GERD meds without contacting GI doc. I've had Type I DM for 35 years, with no microvascular or other complications. I feel that I'm obviously doing something right. This doc only found ways to put me down and feel stupid, rather than lift me up for any level of good care I've taken for myself. On my last visit she got up and walked out because she said I was taking too much of her time. Yet, she struggled to let me even ask my questions. If you want a doctor that keeps her head in the computer for an… incredibly long time to look up incorrect things from your last visit (which I've tried to correct on both of my follow-up visits), avoids looking directly at you, and avoids your questions with lackluster comments , this is the doc for you. If you want a professional that really cares, go somewhere else.

Didnt ask me any questions to learn about my health, just focused on the computer and list of meds. I have been to neurologists all my life for my migraines, and learned that only one old style medication works for me. Yes there have been many new style drugs for that, but none worked. She launched into a chide as to why I didnt go and try the other meds and see neurologists, and didnt listen to me saying I did. She then told me that she will NOT take the risk to prescribe this medication, that I need to go elsewhere for that. Very unprofessional in her attitude and her MO

Absolute worse experience I have ever had in Doctors office. Do not return calls, staff does not seem to care, total lack of coordination within the office Don't waste your time.

I would recommend Dr. Gillar to anyone that needs to see an endocrinologist. She takes the time to actually listen to you and she takes the time needed for you to feel comfortable with her assessments and takes the time to actually find out what the issue is. Love her and would recommend her to anyone
