He was nice and diagnosed my trigger finger in seconds. I am on the way to healing. I really appreciate all he did.

Very poor professional. I saw him for a hand diagnosis years ago, and he couldn't have been more wrong, spiteful, and quite frankly unnecessarily life-changing in the sense that he didn't solve any problems, but instead made them worse.

I had to have my entire shoulder rebuilt after I slipped on ice and fell down the stairs landing on my elbow, including rotator cuff and biceps tendons. My experience in their outpatient surgery center in Bridgeport was excellent. The pre and post op was smooth. Post op care in Coastal Orthopedic was great as I had some pain issues and needed treatment on Sunday at their Westport office. I did research on Dr P‘s capabilities and he’s very skilled in hand and shoulders. Dr P’s calm but decisive demeanor was reassuring knowing that I had a lot of work to be done. I was an existing patient of Coastal Orthopedic, so this made it easier to go with Dr P. and the entire supporting staff of other Drs and NP’s to help. Then there’s Motion PT next to their Norwalk office which I’m now attending for recovery. So an easy and effective procedure and outcome for me.

Dr Protomastro and his staff are amazing professionals. I have had a few hand surgeries with him and he has a great because manner, concern for his patients, answers all my questions in terms i can understand and follows up after every surgery. I would not trust anyone else with my hands.

Dr Protomastro is a talented surgeon, yet his ego and lack of empathy / knowledge of health issues surrounding diabetes and other post surgery risks left my wife in excruciating pain causing delayed healing and trips to emergency wound care without care, concern or followup. Would NEVER recommend him to anyone, especially if there are additional health issues for a patient. Horrible, life changing experience.

Dr. Proto was terrific. He explained everything to me so very clearly - showed me my x-ray and what he had done. Everything he said would happen did. Said I would have my life back very quickly and 6 weeks after surgery, I am almost whole! Great personality, very professional and honest. Would recommend him to everyone!

I am writing as the son of a patient. My mom had her right shoulder replaced in the fall of 2015. She is 81. She had been in increasing pain for a couple of years and we made the decision to do something about. Friends and family in the Fairfield County, CT area apply great pressure and significance in traveling to New York City for this sort of operation. They could not be more mistaken. Dr. Protomastro and Coastal Orthopedics and the dedicated unit at Norwalk Hospital provided excellent care. My mom was treated as only a son would wish from our first consultation, to the surgery, recovery, and follow ups. My mom feels no pain today, where pain was a constant before. Dr. Protomastro is smart and personable. An excellent surgeon.

Met Dr. Protomastro in ER emergency surgery for a bilateral broken ankle. My experience was more than positive. He was courteous, compassionate and very efficient. His sense of humor also helped to ease my pain and discomfort. Because of his easy going demeanor and the way he expressed himself, I felt reassured that things would go positively from the outset. And they did. All follow- up appointments were equally as prompt, courteous and efficient. I have since highly recommended Dr. Protomastro to friends and relatives and would not hesitate returning to him should the need ever arise in the future.

I would love to have this Doctor in Germany where I live. He operated my son's shoulder. I'm amazed by his Skills. He did a teriffic Job and I would recommend him highly to everyone. And I do like his Sense of Humor.

Dr. Protomastro performed complete shoulder replacements on both shoulders. For the first time in 15 years, I am now PAIN FREE and have dramatically increased mobility. He is as good as a surgeon can be.
