Dr. Pauline Sack Sacks

I first met Dr. Sacks about 13 years ago, when she was concluding her residency at UCI Pschyiatric Clinic/Hospital in Orange County, CA. Her colleague was the Dr. that dx me first, and then Dr. Sacks took over the case. I have followed Dr. Sacks around Orange County, as she finally landed in her office in Newport Beach, CA, at her private practice. Moreover, the first time I met Dr. Sacks, she has been caring, listened to the pt chief complaints, has empathy, and understands the pt. On a micro, mezzo, and micro-level. Dr. Sacks unique perspective with dual degrees first as an MSW and shortly after earning her M.D. is specializing in psychiatry. Dr. Sacks is also knowledgable in various psychiatric diagnosis. In contrast, I believe she only sees patients who are considered "high functioning" than people who have a more severe psychiatric diagnosis (but I can be wrong as well). I truly feel blessed to have a caring psychiatrist who takes the time to listen and do medication… management. I have heard unique experiences of other pt who have met with a psychiatrist in the county who write Rx scripts left and right, and do not take the time to assess the pt mental health well-being thoroughly.

I’ve tried more than enough psychiatrist in and out of newport to gaurentee that Dr Saks is the best. She is the most caring, kind, accepting doctor I have ever talked to. She listens whenever you need to talk, helps you with anything & more and is always there no matter when it is. She’s easily the most responsive doctor I’ve ever tried simply because she truly cares about her patients. She is never judgmental and insures that everything you tell her is in a safe space. Dr Saks has only changed my life for the best and anyone that’s tried her for a valid condition knows that. Very grateful.

Dr. Sacks saved my wife and my marriage. Over several years nearly a dozen doctors, countless medications and three surgeries failed to correct a debilitating and chronic medical condition which caused my wife to become severely depressed. Fortunately, one of those doctors referred my wife to Dr. Sacks. I am amazed by the progress sheâ??s made under Dr. Sacksâ?? care. We were initially concerned about my wife being over-medicated if she went to a psychiatrist, but Dr. Sacks made those concerns disappear. She closely monitors my wifeâ??s progress and has been both conservative and cautious with medications. After my wife had an especially bad episode and could not be found for hours, Dr. Sacks went out of her way to make sure my wife was safe. Instead of pushing medications for a quick fix, Dr. Sacks has helped my wife understand the underlying issues and how to deal with them head on. At the beginning, my wife was reluctant to see a psychiatrist, but Dr. Sacks took the time to… truly understand the issues worked with my wife to make steady, meaningful and permanent progress.

This doctor is kind, ethical, caring , and truly cares. She will listen carefully and genuinely help you. She will not prescribe medications unless she truly feels they are warrented. I'm so happy I found her.

My daughter had the best psychiatry available and some of the worst over a 20-year span in Northern California. She moved to Southern California 6 years ago and had see several doctors before finding the right one as most people with bi-polar and major depression do. Unfortunately she wasted 2years with Dr. Sacks. The first warning sign was when Dr. Sacks shared intimate details of my daughterâ??s case with another Dr. in her suite. We know this because her suite mate was my other daughterâ??s best friend totally unethical. Secondly she abruptly cut off one of my daughter most important medications with out monitoring her. My entire family spent two days trying to reach her stating it was an emergency and that my daughter was exhibiting every warning signs of suicide and that she must call in the medication she discontinued immediately. By the time she got back to us my daughter had already made an attempt on her life and was in the hospital. When Dr. Sacks called she left a voice mail… saying she had been busy and that regardless of my daughters state she was unwilling to prescribe even an emergency dose of my daughters previous medication. I returned the call several days later telling her it was no longer needed. It has been a year and we have found an incredible human being and psychiatrist named Dr. Seitelman out of Seal Beach. We are still considering writing the medical board about Dr. Sacks every doctor we have consulted on the matter urged us to. We have never considered doing this for any other Doctor in 25 years. Please if you know someone who has a serious mental illness find someone who's main concern isn't his or her license but a persons life instead. For 25 years doctors good and bad have prescribed a life saving medication for my daughter even though it is highly controlled, never once were they concerned about the attention it might draw to them Dr. Sacks notes clearly state that my daughter lives a fully functional and happy life when taking this medication (a miracle considering she had for years needed ECT!) and documented the decline of her quality of life when it was discontinued. She clearly stated that it was of immense help yet she discontinued it and refused to continue it regardless of the devastating consequences. Please do not send someone dear to you here someday she will be responsible for a non-fixable tragedy. There are wonderful human being that can help in your area you just have to be willing to try a few. P.s. Be forewarned upon meeting Dr. Sack she happens to be a very kind and intuitive person. I'm not suggesting she is intentionally malicious. The problem is that she is not in the right field. Being a MD myself any physician who does not take the oath seriously is very dangerous.
