Dr. Philip Roy Halvorsen, MD

Dr. Halvorsen is a very generous caring doctor. I have been through the high risk pregnancy and Dr. Halvorsen explain and showed the data of the risks that is very helpful to understand. He called me immediately when the test result was turned out. His sincere attitude made me feel very trustful and his knowledge and experience adds more trust.

My wife and I went to see Dr Halvorsen for a pregnancy consult and he was very knowledgeable, professional and patient with all of our questions. He and his staff helped us navigate our insurance policy and even stayed late after the clinic closed to make sure we were taken care of. There are a few negative review about Dr Halvorsen on here, and I think what people are forgetting is that he is a high risk doctor, meaning he prepares you for the worst case scenario. He did not pressure us in any manner and was very thorough. Highly recommend him.

Dr. Halvorsen and his team are patient, caring, and professional.He took the time to answer all of my husband's and my questions thoroughly. He went over all of the possible risks that my high risk pregnancy could lead to, stressed the important details, and even helped guide us in the right direction to figure out what our insurance would and would not cover; I have never had a doctor help with the latter before! I highly recommend Dr. Halvorsen.

Very rude and unprofessional dr. All he wants to do is convince you to have an abortion . My daughter was told her baby will not live and if baby does he ll be severly mentally retarded ...he is forgetting his place , he is not god!! Do not let this dr convince you to abort get a second opinion better yet get a better dr!!

if you need a specialized doctor for your pregnancy do not ever ever see this doctor he will tell you everything in the book that can scare you and your husband. Also that your baby is dying. He has horrible horrible horrible horrible

I was honestly scared/nervous to go see Dr. Halvorsen based on the reviews I read on this website. Well, I felt I should write a review after my visit because I don't feel any of these other review are accurate. Yeah, the office is in an older building and not greatly decorated, but who cares. The front staff was very polite and nice, and they got me back quick to the appointment. When Dr. Halvorsen came into the ultrasound room he didn't rush to shake my hand or anything, but he introduced himself and asked how I was doing then turned his attention to the monitor... which is his job. He then left and the tech brought me to his office to discuss the results. He explained things thoroughly, and had little powerpoints to explain each of the issues I had. He went over previous test results and gave me different likelihood of outcomes. He then asked if I had questions. I had a couple which he answered and then that was that. He isn't an OBGYN and isn't going to coddle and tip toe… around expecting mothers. His job is to determine and monitor problems with high risk pregnancies and that is what he did. He wasn't rude or anything like these reviews say though.

The moment I pulled into the parking lot, I was turned off by this place. The building is older and not well maintained, and things get worse when you reach the floor 3 lobby and your eyes are greeted with dirty floral furniture and crusty teddy bears. But that's just optics. The service and interaction provided by the staff match the building and decor. The receptionist was snarky and harassed me, the ultrasound tech made wicked faces throughout the ultrasound, complimented by long, concerning pauses that caused my heart to skip beats. Then Dr. Halverson, unprovoked, told me that he can't promise me that my child won't have birth defects. I can't understand why this doctor was ever referred. My child is fine, though I do understand that most patients referred here have high-risk pregnancies, which makes the overall look and feel of the office and communication with the staff that much more important. However, this place was anything but warm and comforting.

One of the worst doctors I have ever spoken with. If I could rate him half a star, I would. My high risk pregnancy required weekly IVIG infusions that were very costly, but would provide a higher chance for the baby's survival. Instead of trying to help me facilitate the infusions, he tried to talk me into terminating the pregnancy. I refused and went to a specialist in Seattle. My son is now 2 years old and healthy. I'm so glad I didn't follow Halvorsen's recommendation.

Went for my nuchal translucency and that was ok but I had to return after an ultrasound with my doctor due to something minor and typical and easily fixed. All of a sudden Halvorsen finds all these things wrong which were not in my doctor's report. I was led to believe all of these issues existed but the second time I went back it turned out that wasn't true. Freaked me out really bad and it was suggested by many not to return.Would have been nice if it had been explained that the issues that he thought he saw were exactly that and that he wasn't sure until the baby was larger or something, instead of sounding definitive. I didn't go back. Would not recommend. I perhaps would have had a whole lot less heartache had I gone to Children's in Seattle.

I'll make a long story short. He seems knowledgeable enough, but he is the rudest doctor I have ever met. That's ironic, considering all of the religious stuff that decorates his office walls, but I digress.He chided my wife for the stupidest reason and made her feel like child AFTER we had just gotten some bad news about the pregnancy. As if the news we received wasn't enough, he felt the need to scold her for a very stupid reason (and believe me, it was absolutely ridiculous). I don't expect or want him to hold our hand, but he was 100 percent out of line and it took everything inside of me not to get livid with him on the spot. In his profession, where parents are seeing him for reasons that entail something going amiss in the pregnancy, you would think he would display a little more compassion, but for him to be outright rude is a reflection on his character and how he handles himself under pressure.His wife is just as bad and can be absolutely nasty, as I've seen that,… too.Not impressed. If he wasn't the doctor of his kind in a 250 mile radius, I would take my wife somewhere else. For that reason, I guess he doesn't have to be nice to anyone.
