Dr. Pinakin R Jethwa, MD

Dr. Jethwa was the Neurosurgeon on call when I was rushed to Overlook ER with a ruptured aortic brain aneurysm. Honestly, I cannot say enough positive things about Dr. Jethwa-my family and I are forever grateful to him for truly saving my life. Upon arriving at the ER, I was unconscious. The ER physician told my husband that it really didn’t look very good...that I might not survive through the night, and to have both our children come as soon as possible. Our daughter got on the first flight out of Austin, TX and our son drive home that night from CT. Dr. Jethwa was very comforting to my immediate family as well as to the extended family that had gathered as well. He inserted the external drainage which relieved the pressure. He then performed the surgery to insert six coils at the site of the rupture. His calm demeanor, professionalism, and patience was much appreciated by all. I have had several follow up appointments since my hospitalization and he is always so… thorough and patient. I always have a long list of questions, and he answers every one. I never feel rushed, and am most appreciative for his care. I’m very grateful that Dr. Jethwa was the surgeon on call when all this happened. He is an amazing physician and surgeon.

My wife ruptured an aneurysm, whilst 26 weeks pregnant. This event happened at 5pm on new years day, which is only relevant because the usual plethora of Doctors available were at home with their families. Now that some time has passed, I understand this guy was facing an uphill battle from the beginning, firstly with the injury my wife had sustained, and what must have been limited resources. Day 1, after his first initial operation on my wife, the issue had been identified. After spending probably 4-6 hours in the operating room it had become clear to him that my wife was stable, and a more thorough procedure was required. I still remember meeting with him for the first time that night, after a long operation he walked into the family room by the ICU and calmly explained to a very emotional family what had happened, what was needed, and what to expect. After several operations, and nearly a month spent in the ICU, my wife was able to return home, with our child still in… tow. and miraculously nearly no cognitive dysfunction. She had a large hemorrhage in the subarachnoid region of the brain, which after lots of research and a greater understanding of the injury, is effectively me winning the lottery. I am glad that when this event happened, i was clueless as to what was going on, and would not accept mentally what was meant to be the inevitable. This is relevant, as I still to this day do not understand how he was so calm, respectful, courteous and warm, whilst knowing the statistics at the beginning. it's been over 18 months now since this happened and alongside the month in the ICU we have seen also on follow up appointments afterwards. He saved my wife and my child, and I forever grateful.

Dr Jethwa and saved both my and my daughter's life. I was pregnant with her when he operated and saved both of us! He is so kind, caring, compassionate, and explains things in a way that makes sense. He is a wonderful surgeon and a wonderful human being!!!

Dr Jethwa is extremely compassionate and brilliant at what he does. He SAVED my life! He even gave me his cell number and said to call any time I had questions. He has a lot of patience and is very personable. Very easy to speak with and humble nature. I am so glad to have found him! EXCELLENT doctor!!
