Dr. Richard Kent Barton SR., MD

I really liked Dr Barton and his office!! He just delivered my baby girl a couple days ago!.. I went to him just picking a new Obgyn who took my insurance and I'm glad I picked him! Its a smaller office in good Sam hospital, two exam rooms in the back and his office, which I didn't mind at all..I didn't need a huge office or anything! He has some real nice nurses ( not sure what their technical name is) that work for him and are good at doing your check us and everything in case he's busy delivering a baby or out of the office. They also teach med students to, which is nice of them. He doesn't drag out your appointment, but if you have questions just ask. He is pretty much right to the point type of guy. If there's and issue he will address it or a problem he will tell you what you need to do. If everything is good he. Will do his check up and tell you everything looks fine and when to schedule your next appt. He's easy to talk to and does try to get to know you, and will tell you… about himself. I like how they do a ultra sound every time you go too! He lives close to good Sam so if you go into labor and go to that hospital he will be there quick. He was great during delivery as well. I recommend him to people and new patients. I'm planning to keepkr him as my general ob doctor

I would definitely continue to go to dr. Barton, as long as it is posible because i think he is a great doctor. From the first appointment i liked that he gave me enough instruction for me to do in the first month of my pregnancy. Every visit was nice, i got to know everything i wanted and he was friendly and professional inthe same time. Throughout pregnancy he was doing his job very nicely and i would recommend him to my family and friends. He guide me to make great choices so i got to enjoy even the labor and delivery. I have a healthy baby after a 25minutes of labor. Amazing experience, nice job, great doctor.

Dr. Barton has been my Dr for the last 10 years. I trust him and he did a great job guiding and supporting me through my first pregnancy. He delivers a healthy baby boy and was supportive in my follow up care. Very knowledgeable and his staff is great as well!

Dr. Barton was a great OBGYN for my first child. He was patient with all the questions I had and very honest with every answer. He was very easy to talk to during each visit. His receptionists are generous and everyone worked in a professional manner. Even after I had my baby, I continued to see Dr. Barton and highly suggested him to my close friends and family.

I will be looking for a new doctor. I've only seen Dr.Barton once ,and honestly he creeped me out. He had two women students and they were the only reason I was comfortable enough to stay through the exam! He was very unprofessional while talking about different nationalities...all the while not knowing mine. Back in his office the students were the only ones eager to answer my questions about birth control. He was more interested in telling us repeatedly that some birth control websites were really porn sites....awkward & innapropriate. I DO NOT RECCOMEND!

I've been seeing him for 10 years now, and I love him. He delivered my first baby 3.5 years ago and will be delivering my second baby in a few weeks. I always get appointments that work with my busy schedule so easily, never have to wait very long in waiting room, he's thorough, his staff has always been extremely friendly. Can't say enough good things about him and his office!

Dr. Barton does not take the time to explain your conditions to you, his staff is very unfriendly,and almost rude at times. He uses students instead of hiring trained & certified employees, he does not take your concerns seriously, and will argue with you when addressing your problems instead of figuring out a way to help solve it.I had to leave his practice very far along into my pregnancy (37 WEEKS) because of an untrained, unsupervised student not preforming a procedure properly. When brought to the attention of Dr. Barton he insisted the student did not preform in the manner in which she did; but by him leaving the room he did not know what took place and insisted I was wrong & did not know my own body and what this woman did. He became very loud and rude towards me, making me extremely uncomfortable. I was in a lot of pain after this procedure was preformed the wrong way and so I went to L&D to make sure everything was OK. When my nurse called Dr. Barton to see what he would like… her to do (as he was the last to see me, 1 hour prior to my L&D visit), he told her "Why are you calling me? She fired me!" When in fact, I did not and felt that was very unprofessional of him. I would not recommend Dr. Barton to anyone. Not only is his staff rude and untrained, he is unprofessional, and just sees you as another dollar sign as opposed to concerned human being. LOOK ELSE WHERE!

Dr. Barton's bedside manner is horrible. I had two appointments with him, and so much went wrong. At the first one, he stormed in the exam room while the nurse was taking my vitals/health history, and proceeded to kick us out because he wanted to see another patient in there. Mind you, this was my first time to the office. He did not even bother to introduce himself nor apologize for interrupting my appointment time.In my opinion, first impressions are important, but this guy could care less. He made me feel like I was an inconvenience to him, and his demeanor did not change during the course of the appointment. When I was finally brought back into the room(15 minutes later),I was instructed by the nurse to undress and get situated on the exam table. I was defiantly caught off guard when Dr. Barton barged in the room, while I was changing, with not even as much as a knock on the door. It gets worse ladies....During the exam he preformed a biopsy on me. The procedure itself went fine,… but when it was time to suture me up, Dr. Barton could not find the specific hemostat that he wanted to use. He proceeded to search frantically for, I kid you not, 10 minutes. As a dental assistant, I understand that these kind of things happen throughout a busy day. It did not bother me that he took the time to look for what he needed. What did bother me immensely is the fact that while looking, he DID NOT remove his gloves. He wore the same gloves-that touched my vagina and had my blood on them- and proceeded to open and close drawers/cabinets in the exam room and throughout other rooms in the office. I could hear him rummaging through everything because he left the door open....while I was half naked and bleeding every where on the table. He then returned with instrument in hand and completed the stitch...with the same gloves he touched god knows what with.I should have screamed at him the moment he returned, but alas I was in complete shock with what I saw that I did not have the words. Dr. Barton told me that he wanted me back within a week to remove the suture. He also said that the results should be back from the lab within 5 days. My stitch came out by itself and the wound healed completely a day before the appointment. Because his office is at least an hour from my home, I called to cancel as I did not need it. The woman I talked to said that my lab results have not been received, but the office would call me if anything was wrong. I did not hear from them for 3 weeks so I assumed that everything turned out to be normal. I then received a call stating that I needed to come in that week because Dr Barton needed to go over the results with me. The woman that I spoke with was not able to give me any information as to what the results were, just that the Doctor said he needed to talk to me. Of course, I assumed the worst and was worried for the two days before my appointment....because who's is called for a meeting to discuss the results when everything is normal, right?Turns out the biopsy was just fine and I had nothing to worry about. I was so extremely upset that I wasted my time and gas for something that could be done over the phone. Although I decided after the first appointment that I would not be seeing Dr. Barton in the future, I figured that since I was already there and overdue for a pap, I might as well just get it done and save myself another doctor's apt. BIG MISTAKE!He literally spent 20 seconds with me. He opened me up with the speculum, and swabbed me. That was it! Every other doctor I have ever had would do a very thorough exam and feel all of my lady bits to make sure things looked and felt normal. Please girls, do not make the same mistake that I did. Stay away from Dr. Barton. Hope this helps.

I had two appointments with Dr. Barton. The first one was alright. He was a little weird since he spent 5 mins looking up info on my married last name out of some fascination. Then he spoke for about 20 mins about different nationalities. Well, I was trying to keep an open mind and let that go. But I still left that first visit uneasy but yet was willing to give him a second try. Anyway, the office is small with one exam room and they set it up were privacy seems to lack if there is more then one patient in back. Well that couldn't be more apparent then on my second appointment. I went in to follow up on some issues that I have been having and was rushed through the appointment. He did an ultrasound and then told me to meet him in his office. When I met him in his office there was another couple in there. I was so uncomfortable when he asked me personal questions about my cycle and spoke of my issues in front of the couple that I left and am switching doctors. I feel this guy is… extremely arrogant and acted completely inappropriately. I am so frustrated cause now I have to start from scratch with another doctor. I guess that if you are just going to see him for regular check ups he would do the job but for anything else I would suggest seeing someone that is willing to take their time with you and would NEVER even think to ask such personal questions with other patients present.
