Dr. Richard Sterling Hodgson, MD

After struggling with bouts of debilitating vertigo, Dr. Hodgson diagnosed me with Ménière’s disease. He was so positive and hopeful that this awful disease could be managed. He has always taken me seriously and spent a good deal of time with me. My disease has been managed very well and I live a pretty normal life. If things get bad again, he has lined out a whole progression of “next steps” we can take. I can’t recommend him enough. He also stays abreast of the latest research and treatments regarding Ménière’s disease and I think that is awesome.

Although the disease that I have is fairly rare, Dr. Hodgson spent an hour with me. I never felt rushed and he explained everything to me in a way that I would be able to understand. That is a bit rare based on my previous experience with my Ménière's disease.

I've had two brain surgeries to remove tumors with Dr. Hodgson. He is the most amazing and compassionate Doctor I have ever met. He always makes me feel comfortable and answers all my questions to the T. After each surgery he came and saw me everyday, even on his days off or right after completing another surgery still in his surgical scrubs. He is amazingly thorough and does anything and everything he can to help you and meet your needs. I do not believe he bad review on here at all. HIGHLY recommended surgeon! My husband calls him the Chuck Norris of brain surgeries ;)

I highly recommend Dr. Hodgson. During my initial visit w him, I held back tears when I shared my symptoms and he had a diagnosis. I was beginning to think I was crazy. He performed a mastoidectomy and repair of semi-circular canal on my ear. He prepared me well for possible side effects from surgery and personally visited me every day I was in the hospital. His positivity, reassurances, and genuine caring seem to come naturally to him. It did take 3 months to get my initial appt but well worth the wait. It has been 10 weeks since my surgery and my hearing is improved, I am relieved of the sound of my own voice booming in my head and I'm hopeful this may cure the debilating vertigo attacks I've experienced since I was a child. Even w the temporary uncomfortable side effects, I would do this surgery again in a heartbeat.

Very dehuminizing,he did not do anything, he only cared why i was on the insurance i was on.no tests, most the things he wrote in my medical records were lies.he did not check my neck,throat, ears, the list goes on.he lied said he did..he is pregidice, only cared about insurance.Now no one will help me because of his lies.i feel like im dying.im sure i have a hole in my supior canal, and brain maybe coming through.he did not listen, only gave me a hearing test which hurt the left side if my head so bad with tight old ear muffs.very bad doctor.i can write more later.i have a witness, and i write in my journal .it was a nightmare.if i could rate him it would be a big Zero

Dr. Hodgson was the first out of seven ear doctors to diagnose that I had auto-immune ear disease. The others just muttered about menieres and said nothing could be done. He is intellectually curious which seems to be a very rare quality in today's physicians.

I was diagnosed with Meniere's Disease a couple of years ago and the ENT I was seeing could not get me any better. It took a while to get into doctor Hodgson, but when I did, what a difference! He really understood the disease and validated my symptoms. I was very scared and he made me feel at ease. I fully trust him with my care. He is not over eager to operate, he goes over all your options and works with you to find the best way to cope with your disease. I'm not healed, but with his help I've been able to manage my symptoms better, which two separate ENT's were not able to do. His office staff on the other hand, is very frustrating. You have to be on them to return phone calls and get messages to him. I would also follow up with them when you have an appointment to make sure it was booked correctly. I've had two appointments be misplaced or canceled without my knowledge until I came into the office. In that respect he's a bit hard to get in touch with. But once in his… office you have his full attention without him having one step out the door. Very important when dealing with the patients he does.

Dr. Hodgson is the only doctor I trust for my hearing needs. He is not only an outstanding doctor but also takes the time to listen to my concerns and finds the best possible treatments that work best for me. He has been my doctor for over five years and would not go to anyone else.
