Dr. Richard Bruce Markwood, DO

I was shocked to see all of the negative comments. I was referred to Dr. Markwood by a friend 11 years ago when I was pregnant with my first/only child after I had a horrible experience with a different OB/GYN. Dr. Markwood was very compassionate with a great sense of humor. He immediately put me and my husband at ease. I have horrendous back issues and let him know I wanted a C-Section. He wasn't happy about that decision and tried to get me to change my mind. In the end I wound up having the C-Section (my desicion). He always promptly returned my calls throughout my pregnancy as this was my first child and I had tons of questions. If you are looking for a stiff, strictly professional-no sense of humor, no personality look somewhere else.

Dr. Markwood is a great doctor with a wonderful soul. Unfortunately his support staff let him down in our situation which accounts for the low score in the Accurate Diagnosis area. The explanation was that they had started the new computer systems with the electronic notepads for taking notes. This unfortunately lead to a missed surgery that ultimately impacted our pregnancy which ended in miscarriage. However, Dr. Markwood helped us to overcome this tragedy by being there and working on a plan to try again. Thank you for all that you did for us. I count you as a friend.

Dr. Markwood and Dr. Sutherland are wonderful. I had switched from another doctors office due to not feeling "welcome" or cared for. They did a remarkable job caring for me and my son when he was born. Dr. Markwood made the delivery simple and was by my side the whole time. He made sure my husbands questions were answered and made us feel like family. I would HIGHLY recommend him and his practice to anyone wanting an amazing doctor!

Doctor Markwood is a great doctor, I guess you either like him or don't.. My primary care referred me to him and he quickly fit me in his busy schedule ( since the other doctors where on vacation) .. He listen to me and it turned out I need to have an ovary removed and he acted quickly to get me checked out and into surgery. Yes he did hug me and frankly with the dx I needed it, I'd hug the receptionist if I had to.. He is very business but also try's to listen and understand .. He is also my incision looks good nice straight cut.. Now his office team not so good , but the nurse and ultra sound tech also very nice and they don't treat questions as if they are stupid

between them losing our appointments, the hour+ waits, and the three+ days of calling nonstop for refills on our prescriptions after a c-section of a 10 pound baby with different answers from their staff everytime with no resolution.... i assure you that you will want to look elsewhere. He forces you into C-sections without any discussion and acts arrogant and better than you through all of it. I give this guy a big TWO THUMBS DOWN F- grade.... and his office staff is even worse. They are rude and have no idea how to do their jobs.

I was with this group for two pregnancies. Thankfully I switched during my third because I had a huge complication that I wouldn't have felt this group could handle and have my child survive. Dr. Markwood didn't spend appropriate time during my visits and was so distracted by his staff bursting in during my cervical check that he missed the fact that my child was not head down. I ended up having a surprise caesarean. He also hugged me a few times while I was half undressed. Thankfully my husband was there but it was extremely awkward as I do not know him well enough to hug him

The doctor saw me while in the emergency room. He said he was releasing me to the care of my obgyn, who he talked to. He said he called my obgyn and she said not to admit me to the hospital, to bring me to her office. I called my obgyn and she knew nothing of the situation. He lied to me.

I have never meant such a nasty and unprofessional staff, not even a staff in a store such as walmart. This facility wants buisness???!!! If thats the case their approach is going to make the fo under real fast if they keep the office staff they have.

Dr. Markwood took me as a patient after my OB/GYN moved out of state. He delivered my 2nd child in 2000. I was very comfortable there and always treated with respect even when I would call with a question that seemed silly. Now as I am about to have a hystorectmy, he has been by my side every step of the way. All the women in my family see him and several of my friends as well!

truth be told...i was on here looking for a new family physician and i stumbled across my ob/gyn names/ratings and simply couldn't be quiet about what i read. ANYONE that has ANYTHING negative to say about either one of these doctors... i GUARANTEE that the problem is the patient! i've been a patient there for 10yrs, i've referred EVERYONE i know to them because i have NEVER had a BETTER, MORE PROFESSIONAL, YET PERSONAL, CARING EXPERIENCE with doctors in my life! there is ONE young office staff member there thats rude ( i know, not good) but ppl need to give honest ratings....the rest of the staff is very good, nice, and caring. i just wish they were able to be my family physician. best doctors EVER!!!!!
