Dr. Richard Howard Nierenberg, MD

I was admitted to the emergency room for a suspected heart attack late one afternoon. Dr. Nierenberg immediately directed his staff to get me admitted pronto for a multi night stay. A battery of tests of heart and lungs took place the following morning. By 2:00 PM the following day Dr. Nierenberg sat down beside my bed and reviewed the results. I did not suffer any heart attack; it turned out to be a muscle pain from 2 days earlier while moving furniture in my home. His comment to me was, "It was a good thing you came into the hospital". He also informed me about chest muscle strains can simulate a heart attack. He exchanged a lot of casual small talk and was not in any rush! I was then released. Thank you Dr. Nierenberg

Great doctor saved my life

This is the most uncaring doctor I have ever met. He is beyond rude and arrogant. This guy doesn't have a compassionate bone in his body. I would be mortified if I was Summit hospital and had this jerk working for me. Thumbs down, DO NOT RECOMMEND! Seek your healthcare elsewhere as you will only get his pompous quack at Summit.

Very kind and experienced

Rude and arrogant. Visit was a waste of money. Unless I was incapacitated and had no choice of doctors, I would never put my health or life in his hands.

My 76 year old mother was admitted to FGH on recommendation of Urologist due to severe bladder infection. Was passing blood for 2 days after seeing Urologist and given antibiotics which she couldn't keep down. When finally seen by Dr. Nierenberg, he did not examine her at all but chastized her for seeing so many doctors and told her to leave the hospital and go back to the Urologist. All was told to her in a very rude manner. She felt as though she was being "kicked out" of the hospital. After leaving the Urologist couldn't fit her in for several days in which time her infection worsened to the point that she could not urinate at all. This is very poor professionalism on Dr. Nierenberg's part. He provided no examination, yet determined that she did not need his care or time. Not the type of care you want for you parent or any other human being for that matter. Dr. Nierenberg should not be allowed to practice medicine if he has no compassion for his patients. As I understand… it, you go to medical school to learn to help cure people. I guess some just go for a paycheck and maybe Medicare doesn't fit into their lifestyle.
