Dr. Rita Rajput Sharma, MD

Today was my first time seeing Dr. Rita Sharma. She came into the visit speaking rudely, was condescending, and quick to judge without knowing anything about me. She made zero eye contact. She looked in the opposite direction for the entire initial part as she reviewed her questionnaire on her computer. It would take 1-2 minutes to build rapport with a patient you've never met, which she completely bypassed, and I felt like she lacked kindness and warmth. Based on how rushed she was, I wonder if she is passing on her anxiety and stress to her patients. I left feeling uncomfortable and will be canceling my next appointment and looking for another PCP.

Dr. Rita Sharma is a complete joke! I'm going to begin with a little background...I was diagnosed with bipolar and insomnia back in 1998. I've been taking the same prescriptions for 22 years now. I had a PCP for almost 32 years and then that doctor retired. I was referred to another doctor with whom I was with for 2 years before the practice closed. NEITHER of these doctors questioned my medications. If I don't have my medications, I begin to have hallucinations, no sleep, and I become manic. I have a family and 4 kids that depend on me. I am a early childhood special educator with whom the kids depend on me...I have responsibilities! I have come a long way from where I was back in 1998 and I've been doing great...that is, up until now. Jumping forward, I had to find a new PCP...and I saw Rita Sharma. I had my first visit with her about 1.5 months ago. When I told her the medications I take, she asked if I see a psychiatrist and I said "no"...I've never needed to see one. She then… explained to me that she didn't feel comfortable prescribing these medications until I see a psychiatrist which I did shortly after my visit with her. She told me that once I get the "OK" from the psychiatrist that she will feel more comfortable and that she would prescribe me my medications. I saw a psychiatrist, she reviewed my meds, ordered bloodwork, and all was fine. I went back to see Rita Sharma today because I am running low on some of my really important medications and she "took back" what she said. After telling her that she told me to see a psychiatrist and she would have no problem prescribing me my medications, she said, "that's not what I said". I became upset and she said it's the psychiatrist's job to prescribe me my medications. HAD I KNOWN THAT FROM THE BEGINNING, I WOULD'VE FOUND SOMEONE ELSE!! Why would I waste my time going to see a doctor who can't help me? I wouldn't!! It's not like I have all the time in the world to just see doctors...I have a family and a job. She saw that I was becoming upset and just brushed it off and said "I can give you a weeks worth but that's it". With in the same breath (I have a sinus infection which I knew, but wasn't there for that reason), she said "so I see you have a cough?" She didn't let me talk but she just said "I'll send a Z-pack to the CVS". She told me how to take it...DUH...IT STATES HOW TO TAKE IT ON THE BOX!! After that, I was devastated!! All I could think about was my life and what am I going to do now? I've been in the situation of having no meds and being bipolar, my life sort of spirals downwards. Rita Sharma couldn't care less about what's going to happen to me if I run out of medicine, she worried about her "liability". Doctors become doctors to help people...not brush them away. She didn't even give me a referral to someone who CAN help me...she just dismissed my concerns. She didn't even listen to what I needed nor what I had to say. She is VERY impersonal and personally, she is disrespectful. I'm not a doctor but I've been handling my meds, MY LIFE, successfully and she has put me into a panic because now I'm not going to have the medications I NEED! This is why people with mental health do what they do...they are not getting the help they need...just like Rita Sharma is doing to me! I wouldn't recommend her to anyone, even my worst enemy!

My wife and I have been seeing her for a number of years now and have always been happy with her visits, exams, recommendations and referrals!!

We were some what concerned about scheduling an appointment with a large practice. Our experience was very good. The staff and doctor made us feel welcomed, as though we had come to a small practice,with lots of time to spare and personalized attention.Dr.Sharma was wonderful. She was kind, patient and gave us lots of time to explain. Dr. Sharma had a good sense of humor, a warm smile and was very knowledgeable.Our visit was productive and we will use this practice for our medial needs from now on.
