Dr. Robert Fernando Katz, MD

If you want a doctor with great bedside manner and a calm presence, I will admit Dr Katz is not for you. He is highly sought after and super busy because he is simply the best when things gets rough and complicated. He is highly experienced and delivered some A lister babies as well (not that it matters, but goes along with he’s highly sought after theme). Yeah he says a little dad jokes here and there but he’s very to the point and will tell you exactly what you need to do. He’s the kind of doctor who will straight up tell you you have a boring pregnancy (no complications, everything is great). If you want a doctor to make you feel special, he is not it. If you want a doctor where you know he’s got it when things hit the fan, he’s your doctor.

Does not care about the patient and mis-diagnosed the problem. He is so busy that if you need to talk about an issue, he is not the doctor. He doesn't want to take time to figure out what is going on. After waiting 1.5 hours to see him, he was curt and belligerent. Dr Katz treated me without respect, responded to my questions with anger and arrogance and ultimately misdiagnosed the issue I was experiencing. His roughness during the physical gynecology exam was unwarranted. There is no excuse or place for taking out his inability to cope with his extremely busy schedule on his patients, nor his refusal to talk in order to get all the facts in relation to the problem. His education and titles did not prepare him to solve a basic gynecological problem. After going to another Doctor at another practice, I was treated with the respect any person should receive and deserve. Dr. Katz needs to check his self-righteous attitude at the door and go back to medical school to learn bed-side manner… and ethical medical practices. Worse experience I have had with a doctor in almost 40 years and I have never posted any rating on any doctor, until now.

VERY long wait. In efficient office. Would not recommend.

I have been a patient of Dr. Katz for what seems like forever! He saw me before I was pregnant, and was the best Dr. to have during pregnancy. He is such a nice Dr. and exactly the type of Dr. you want when dealing with all the craziness of having a baby. He was awesome in the delivery room, and I should be so lucky to have him deliver my next baby! Great great great guy and even better Dr.

hated going to Katz for the 9 mo I was preg. He was too quick with me, made me nervous and intimated about asking any questions because most of the time he made fun of them. A lot of his comments made me uncomfortable and uneasy. So many times i wanted to leave him, but people told me not to because hes "so good at what he does". But when I went into labor he was awesome. He showed at 3am when I needed him. 20 hrs later, I ended up needing a c section. After the surgery he sat next to me and held my hand. I never had any pain (took motrin literally 3 times only) and you can barely see the scar.

I met Dr. Katz under unfortunate circumstances ... my husband and I had done IVF and were elated to be pregnant. Unfortunately, I miscarried at nine weeks. The IVF doctor told me I needed a D&C and kicked me to the curb saying he couldn't do it. Thankfully, Dr. Katz got me in the very same day that I talked to his office! He was able to squeeze me in and do the procedure the very next day. He explained every single thing to me and made the office procedure very tolerable. He was so caring during what was a very sad time for me. If you can believe it, he even called me AT HOME the night of the procedure to make sure I was feeling alright. I've never had any doctor as caring as Dr. Katz.

With Dr. Katz it's all about him. He fixes his hair before doing a caesarean. He has poor communication skills, even poorer listening skills. He is not accountable for his actions. Both my sister and I left his practice.

I'm pregnant with my first baby, and have lots of questions and concerns. Dr Katz made me feel intimidated everytime i asked a question, and i was tense everytime i opened my mouth. In short, Dr Katz does not have bedside manner, and he doesnt try to make his patientes comfortable. Good luck if you're expecting someone calm and mellow. After 4 months of frustration, i decided to go with a different obgyn, and i tell you that i learned a lot more with the new doctor in one visit than i learned with dr Katz in about 5 visits. As for the staff, I've had it. The nurses seemed to be nice at first, but their kindness fell short during the following visits. They were constantly frustrated with their work flow, and they let it show... I'd be willing to stay with the doc and get past the nurses frustration, however, Dr Katz does not make it worth the trouble. I could not imagine him holding my baby for the picture, nor did i want to share such special time of my life with such doctor.

I have been a patient of Dr. Katz for over 10 years. I moved 50+ miles from West Los Angeles 8 years ago and I continue to make the drive to see Dr. Katz. His bedside manner is what keeps me coming back. The office staff is professional and courteous. I wouldn't see another doctor.
