Robert L. Waltrip, M.D., attended Johns Hopkins School of Medicine. He completed his internship and orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Pittsburgh. Dr. Waltrip then conducted a sports medicine and shoulder fellowship with the internationally renowned Drs. James Andrews and Bill Clancy at the American Sports Medicine Institute in Birmingham, Alabama. There he refined his skills in sports medicine, arthroscopy and joint replacement surgery. Dr. Waltrip has written numerous articles on orthopedic surgery techniques and performed several clinical studies. He has also lectured on health education and serves as team physician for area high schools.

I tore the tendon in my elbow and went to see Dr. Waltrip who took the time to answer all of my questions about the surgery needed to repair the tendon and discussed the length of time that it will take to fully recover. He operated on my elbow almost 4 weeks ago and it is healing well. I would recommend Dr. Waltrip to everyone he is very professional and caring.

I I am pain free for the first time in 6 years. I would highly recommend Tri Rivers and Dr. Robert Waltrip. I had a good experience with Butler Hospital also.

Torn meniscus , surgery went well . Up and walking on my own and back to work in a week , but swelling and pain took about 2 to 3 months to go away . It is now been 4 months and I am still not 100 0/0 I am also 62 years old so that may delay my recovery time . I would go to Dr Waltrip again if I needed to .

From my initial consultation through the diagnosis, surgery, and post op care...Dr. Waltrip's knowledge, skill, and treatment was excellent. I had avascular necrosis of left lateral chondial and was in a tremendous amout of pain and unable to walk. Not only did he correct the condition, but I have been pain free for 10 years and able to fully function as a nurse.

I see his publications from 2003-2005 were about knee dislocations and rotator cuff repair, yet he totally missed my knee, rotator cuff, and other problems. Strange.

Saw him for an IME appt, seemed very nice. didn't have to wait long in the waiting room but spent a long time waiting in the exam room. Didn't give me any useful infomation but I guess he doesn't have to for an IME appt.
