Dr. Robert Stephen Yuhas, MD

Kind, compassionate and reliable are just a few deserving adjectives. Dr. Yuhas provided many years of competent clinical care for my Mom and also referred her to the amazing people at APREVA Hospice, for which I will be forever grateful. The follow up, empathy and genuine bedside care meant the world. Thank you to Dr. Yuhas and his entire office staff!

Dr. Yuhas has been my primary care physician for almost twenty years. He has treated me for many medical problems. Because I have often been exposed to medicine and medical doctors as a result of 35 years as an attorney specializing in personal injury, I think that I am qualified to say the Dr. Yuhas is a truly outstanding doctor. Personally, he is kind, patient, and CARING, often taking the time to listen well beyond the time when other doctors would have ushered you out the door. Not too long ago, my urologist told me to see my primary care doctor or go to urgent care as soon as possible because he suspected that I had Shingles. I immediately called Dr. Yuhas, and he told me to come to his office even though I would not be able to get there until after closing time. He waited for me to arrive, and began successfully treating me for Shingles.

Dr. Yuhas has been my primary care doctor since the mid 1980's, and I am still alive. He must be a great doctor!

I agree with other reviews, he is a little full of himself and I am not really impressed with him. I have asked other doctors for a referral to another internist. I have only seen him three times in 3 years and each time waited 20 to 30 minutes.

It has been my experience listening to Dr. Yuhas interact with me and with other patients, that he is kind, polite, intelligent and thorough. When he feels the need to suggest a course of action, he can be persistent, but always polite. While friendly, he remains professional in his interactions, which might be off putting to some. In the 10 years as my doctor, he has made several diagnosis that were significant in protecting my health. He has a busy, friendly staff and at times I need to check on whether a lab report has come in. This doesn't bother me as I feel I have some responsibilty in managing my health care.

Initially I thought Dr. Yuhas was rather progressive, but I have come to feel 'left out' at my appts. He is smart and knowledgeable, but, can be unthinkably condescending and dismissive. It seems he is substituting book learning and labs for being present, listening and intuition. He has always been quite late. By contrast his staff is wonderful !!! They ALL have been beyond courteous. I think that they are responsible for ease and follow ups.

I have worked in the medical field for 30 years plus as a provider and this Dr exceeds the performance. He is caring, attentitive and a provider that you can say he did his 100%-Exceptional for 2012

Although Dr Yuhas is a quiet man, he is extremely caring and committed to his patients. He shows the upmost respect to his patients, listens with intensity to small details that may be a clue to to a diagnosis. He is very focused when he sees a patient and gives 100% attention. Any wait in his office is because he gives his patients the time they need and does not rush them thru. I have known many doctors over the years and have seen some of the best in San Diego. I count Dr Yuhas as an exceptional physician.

Very knowledgeable but also curt and condescending - I am a lawyer, but he treated me like I was in Kindergarten - he is intelligent and knows his diagnoses, but I would not call him a "Healer"
