She carried out her residency in general surgery at the Kaiser Foundation Hospitals in San Francisco, and served as Kaiser's chief resident in general surgery from 1982 to 1983. She began her professional career with Rockwood Clinic in Spokane, Wash., and then joined the Colorado Permanente Medical Group in Denver, Colo. In 1986 Dr. Harrison set up private practice in Boulder, Colo., where she continued seeing patients until joining Northwest Montana Surgical Associates in 1994.
