Promised he wouldn't use staples, then went ahead and did it. After two visits to my room post surgery, I had bring up the subject. His staff is surly, and difficult to deal with as well. Then schedules my 6 week follow up with a PA, when I live 1200 miles from HSS. Very disappointing.

I postponed knee surgeon for years after seeing 5 surgeons, one at Johns Hopkins and the others locally; I lacked confidence in the outcome. My mother had her knee replacement redone 4 times because of poor work. In one case the device was so loose that she developed complications immediately. So, I was concerned. The Hopkins surgeon seemed much more interested in statistical outcomes and was cold, arrogant and unable to articulate a diagnosis. By the time I got to HSS about 1 year later I was in horrible pain with no cartilage left. Dr Windsor's empathy and ability to communicate my options was so reassuring that I did not hesitate asking him to perform the surgery. All of my fear of the surgery was gone when I left the office. I was astounded that I was able to walk without any device (cane, walker etc) just a few weeks after surgery and had full extension at 5 weeks, which I understand is remarkable. True, I walked hard at therapy. I will waste no time asking him to replace my… other knee when that time comes. He is a gifted surgeon and lovely man.

Dr. Windsor after my surgery saw me for a few seconds and than I did followup with me for weeks. If it was not for the rehab doctors I would have been lost. No such thing as perioperative care of follow up with him. He just wants to do surgery and probably forgot he is a doctor first and patient care is important.

This Dr. won't answer follow up questions, return phone calls. And just plain ignores his patients. I wasted my time and money with this guy.

I saw Dr. Windsor after he was recommended by a friend who the doctor had performed a TKR on. I also read about him on the hospital website. The problem I had was needing a second opinion on a TKR surgery that left me with a leg that is just as bad as it was before the surgery. I had experienced a bad case of sepsis in the knee and other serious complications following surgery at another NYC hospital. Dr. Windsor gave me an extensive explanation for his evaluation of my previous surgery. He was not distracted by phone calls or rushed. I felt that I had his whole attention and that he cared about the problem I was left with. The result was that I achieved an understanding of my exact problem and that it was unadvisable to have further surgery to correct it. It is always said that if you see an orthopedist he or she will want to "cut". Dr. Windsor is a true physician interested in doing the right thing for the patient, He is not a surgeon anxious to fill his coffers by offering surgery… as the only solution. I have extreme admiration and greatfulness for Dr. Windsor.

My husband and I were both pleased with my consultation with Dr. Windsor. He was very patient and thorough in explaining my options, and I would definitely recommend him.
