Dr. Russell Christopher Maxa, MD

I am in the medical profession. Dr. Maxa is the best primary care physician I have ever had. He is knowledgeable and takes excellent care of his patients.

Great doctor!

The staff is HORENDEOUS! It doesn't matter how good the doctor is when the staff is non-responsive, arrogant, and rude when questioned. Apparently, the doctors are more concerned with backing up their staff than providing patient service.

He actually asked me to leave the office immediately, and told me he would never see me again. I listed symptoms which another MD suggested were indicitive of celiac's / chrons. He told me "you get one symptome today". Which will it be? Then he told me I had somatization disorder. Shouldn't an IM be able to recognize cilliacs? I was so offended. Next he said "this is over - get out of my office immediately". If you are looking for someone to blow off your symptoms and call you crazy - he is perfect!

The most arrogant doctor I have ever been to. No bedside manner and very rude��don't see this doctor!

I had to see this doctor because my doctor was out. Big mistake. Dr. Maxa rushed through my symptoms and concerns and then treated me like I was trash. I was at a very low point after feeling so bad for so long. I went to the doctor for help. He did nothing to help me and treated me so poorly that I left extremely upset. I have never experienced anything like it. He thinks he's better than he is because he got my diagnosis 100% wrong! Be careful of his arrogance.

Do not expect any extra services from this doctor's office. I asked for a printed copy of my blood work, but it was not sent. Two days before elective surgery with another physician, Dr. Maxa denied approval for the surgery without even informing me. I only discovered this when I made an unrelated phone call to the surgeon's office. All arrangements I had made for the five-hour surgery had to be rescheduled as a result. I sent a request from ExpressScripts, which I assume was never returned. My pharmacy contacted Dr. Maxa's office for approval to refill a medication I've taken daily for many years; the request was denied without any explanation to me. I would not recommend this doctor or this practice to anyone.

I love doctor Maxa and as long as he is practicing in Atlanta he will continue to be my doctor. There have been many times that he has called my house to give me test results and check on me. He takes his time with me in the office and doesnt rush.

Dr. Maxa is in my opinion a very thourough doctor. I believe that he may be undergoing some staff turnover and I was unfortunately caught in the mix of this. One of his nurses gave me a TB skin test that I had to have redone at another location because the needle was so big that I bled out along with the vaccine. Having had multiple skin test done, I probably should have sai dsomething, but who am I, not a nurse, to question a nurse!! Since my insurance did not cover this, I essentially paid for a noneffective skin test. I had to have some additional blood work done in which I made another appointment; thsi was very easy as I was able to get the appointment the same day! I attempt to make the lastest possible appointment and was not able to do so. I arrive at my appt 15 minutes before but was not called for simple blood work until more than 30 minutes after my appt time, which made my total wait time too long for 1 blood test! When I am finally called, the nurse rightly so… apologizes and tells me that she hadn't realized my chart was pulled...what were you doing?? My last two experiences with his staff was not favorable!

Dr. Maxa has been our family doctor for several years and I have nothing but praise for him. I feel very comfortable discussing any problem and he always responds. I have sent many of my friends to him and they all feel the same way. Maybe he doesn't coddle patients like some would like but is that really efficient medicine? He's a keeper!
