Dr. Sandra Ann Diehl, MD

First of all Dr. Diehl is a psychiatrist, not Dr. Phil who is a psychologist. She specializes is medications to help with anxiety, depression and other mood disorders, but not therapy. If you get on meds that do not work all you have to do is call and she'll put you on another prescription. You'll know in about 5-6 weeks if the meds are working or not. Ask a loved one that sees you all of the time to analyze your behavior and ask them if they see a positive change in you. And secondly like I said before, she's not a therapist. If you're thinking that you'll go in the office and have a one hour therapy session, then you will be disappointed. She does suggest getting a therapist and she'll be more than happy to give you a referral or two. Therapy works great as an addition to the meds you are taking. On your first visit she will ask about how you're feeling and what are your habits at home, work, etc. There are alot of SSRIs out there and she has to determine which one is… good for you. The first one doesn't always work. If you want to talk, then talk. She'll appreciate all the details you can give her to help make a proper diagnosis. You may be in there only about 15 minutes, but in that time you can certainly talk all you want. If you think she's ignoring you it's because she's writing down what you're saying so don't take it personally. If you go in with a different perspective on what to expect then maybe you'll see that she is doing her job. And, btw, I am a patient.

I went to her for the first time and thought she was very kind, thoughtful, sympathetic and understanding. She 'heard' what I was telling her and without going over my whole life - just hitting the highlights - she understood what I needed.

I had one visit with Dr. Diehl and will never go back she is rude, doesn't listen, and not one ounce of compassion. It's just a job for here she isn't there to help

I found her very cold and dismissive of my complaints. She also seemed not too thoughtful about her prescriptions. She made me take meds that I didn't need and said that I would have to be on drugs for the rest of my life. I went to a different doctor who gradually weaned me off all medication and am feeling so much better. Everyone in my family notices I've improved.

The office staff is unprofessional.

Took a month to get initial appointment. After 2 months of meds that didn't work, they finally prescribed something that did work. After a 90 day Rx with 2 refills (9 months worth), I called to get an Rx refill for just until I could get an appointment. After many calls back and forth they refused to refill my meds until I could be seem, which they couldn't do for about a month. I couldn't believe it, it's Welbutrin, not a narcotic. I will be finding another doc!

I was referred to her because she was listed as a Christian doctor with our church. Her Nurse practioner asked all the questions and then when she was done she had Dr. Diehl come in the room with us. She told her about my history in front of me. The doctor never asked me about my history at all. When asking her what was her take on spiritual warfare, she refused to answer that question. She was very cold and blunt. Obviously a waste of my time. However, she got her money from me! Our church has taken her off our list.

As one of the other raters commented earlier, almost the entire appointment was with a nurse practitioner that took my history and then went through a checklist she might have toren out of an advertisement for Prozac. I saw Dr. Diehl for maybe 5 minutes. The reason that I picked her practice was because she claimed to specialize in Post partum depression, and I was still nursing my daughter so I expected her to be knowledgeable about medications that I could take while breastfeeding. They mostly treated it as an inconvenience. I am currently getting my PhD is psychology, and honestly I think that way that the practice is run is unethical. It is a money factory with little thought to their patients and the bulk of the work on the shoulders of an inexperienced nurse. Would NOT recommend.

I have tried other Docs and finally found the right fit. Great Doctor and staff.

Loved Dr. Diehl, but after receiving a bill for $50 for asking a question over the phone, I went elsewhere. My health insurance (Blue Cross/Blue Shield) said they felt the charge was not appropriate and wouldn't pay it. I eventually paid the bill myself, but found a new doctor.
