Dr. Seth Elliot Pross, MD

Dr. Pross completed a stapodotomy on my right ear. I had become functionally deaf in that ear due to many years of progressive otosclerosis. I just returned from my post surgery hearing test. The test verified what I already knew, that the hearing in my right ear has been restored! It seems like my right ear hearing may even be better than my left ear, in which I had a similar surgery back in 2008. To me, the results seem nothing short of miraculous. I could not be more pleased. I now wish I had pursued this long before I finally did.

Dr. Pross was patient, attentive and provided detailed information regarding the benefits and risks associated with potential surgery/treatment to me and family members. I was afraid and squeamish, and he answered every concern with verbal and written resources. Surgery occurred exactly as he predicted, the recovery was smooth and restored my hearing after a 40 year loss. Dr. Pross worked smoothly with his team and coordinated followup care. Rarely has any series of encounters been so positive, beneficial or life changing. Dr. Pross is the epitome of an exceptional surgeon and a testament to healthcare service at its best.

Dr Pross did my ear surgery in 2018, after what my hearing worsened significantly. It appeared he placed a prosthesis in my middle ear in a completely wrong spot, what I found out only in 2022 after I had another surgery at Stanford. If I knew how incompetent Dr Pross is I wouldn’t have had him do my surgery and damage my hearing

Dr. Pross is incredibly knowledgeable, patient, and compassionate. Truly encapsulates the spirit of being a great doctor who wants to help people. He goes out of his way to check on his patients. He likes to educate patients on their medical conditions and things that may come with them. I’ve had 2 surgeries done by him for a spinal fluid leak, which is quite serious, and he makes you feel calm and comfortable about the whole process. Anyone who gets cared for by Dr. Pross is in good hands.

I have been to Stanford, UCSF and House Ear Clinic in LA and Dr. Pross is by FAR the best doctor I have seen! I have a complicated ear situation (cholesteatomas, canal wall down surgeries, meningitis and cochlear implants- all before Dr. Pross). He took the time to understand my complex history, he was totally transparent about my current situation (not great- a prior bone graft didn't take), he is scheduling frequent cleanings until we can make sure that my situation is stable and he listened to my idea about another surgery and calmly told me why he is not recommending it. We were scared to move to Kaiser because of my complex ear situation and now we are sticking with Kaiser because we are so dang impressed with Dr. Pross!

Long story short: If you afford a better health insurance, don't bother even thinking about Kaiser nor Dr. Pross. And if you don't afford better insurance, work harder so that you do! My experience: During the past 3 years which I was at Kaiser, I had many nightmares. Among all, I had an ear drum ruptured and the ENT specialist Dr. Seth Pross didn't see the rupture at first place because he forgot to remove the wax!!! After 10 months And lots of visits at Kaiser with another surgeon at Kaiser I was told due to some complications after the rupture I should operate immediately! New surgeon did the very simple surgery but they put the bandage so tight that I got scarring in my forehead and lost good bunch of hair :( I save you other details but trust me, they handle very simple situations so bad that scared me. what if I had a bigger ear/hearing issue to take care of? I am happy I am out being "insured!?" by Kaiser. Also worth mentioning that I talked to the manager of… ENT department at Kaiserand she only wrote a formal letter that she is sorry about my experience. I ended up paying out of pocket to be seen at Stanford.

Dr Pross had,a great bed side manner & was very thorough with his exam! also if I had questions about my condition he answered in great detail! Was very happy with my appointment ??
