Dr. Shawn Donatelli, DO

I was a week before having pain pump surgery and cause i yell at the receptionist over the phone about the prescription being wrong Cause she was listening to what i was saying he kick me out if the pain clinic and cancelled my surgery.

I fully agree with all the negative reviews I have read. I worked in the medical field for 42 years and have seen and worked with Doctors in many fields and I've never meet such an arrogant self centered with no bedside manor to speak of. On my visit for a caudal injection he gave me a tongue lashing in front of a nurse and a x-ray tech because I gave a bad review on the communication in his office. That was entirely non professional act. My initial visit was with a nurse practionor who had to run for permission to do anything. I hadn't seen the doctor for 3 years and he never ordered any exams to see if my condition had changed in anyway to see if the injections were warranted for my current problem. I will explore another avenue for relief and I implore others to avoid this mans methods. Word of mouth ( and the internet) is great advertisement so Southwoods you should check this guy out for the future if you continue to use "How a patient should be treated" in your adds.

If I could rate negative stars I would. All he does is make appt after appt just to tell you he can’t do anything for your pain. I’ve been dealing with excruciating pain and gradually getting worse. Told I was too young to be prescribed medication regardless of the fact I was in a car accident. I would not recommend this dr if you’re really trying to get any type of help. His practitioners are just as bad as he is. They don’t listen to the patients concerns. Almost like they have a script they go by regardless of what the patient says or is actually going through,they already have the answer. DO NOT GO THERE IF YOU REALLY NEED HELP!

The wife has been in increasing pain for seven years. After seeing many doctors and and not finding anybody that could help her we hit a dead end. We turned to Southwoods for help. We have dealt with the surgery unit and they are great! What hospital gives you a menu for what you would like for your you dinners. Bakes a cake for you if it's your birthday. Lets your spouse stay over and supplies a place to sleep. Packs a lunch when you leave. The staff is second to none. Then there is the Pain and Spine center, a class act. Staff are friendly and make you feel at home. Then you get to meet Dr. Donatelli. ( I use the term Dr. lightly). He is the most arrogant person I have met in my lifetime. He has the personalty of a real jerk. out of four visits we saw him once. The other visits we saw practitioners. We were given three medications over a three month period. Each a low dose which is understandable but none adjusted a bit. Then on the last visit we get a male practitioner that… walked into the room and didn't have the decency to even acknowledge me until I intervened. He was cold as ice. After answering the questions as best we could he said that he was going to talk to the doctor. He came back and we told that we couldn't be helped. Did you try anything over the counter, aspirins ect.? Can you believe that! We were more or less told to go home and deal with it. I asked to talk to the doctor but we got a PR women instead. We told he our concerns and she was very sympathetic. Told us under the circumstances she would talk to the doctor to see if there could be something that could be done but he is in surgery and would call us the next day. ( practitioner talked to the doctor? PR told us he was in surgery?) go figure. Also no phone call. Terrible experience! Meantime my wife on a one to ten scale is anywhere from five to eleven depending on the day. BEWARE, STAY AWAY FROM THIS GUY! He didn't even have the decency to talk to us why he couldn't help. Before dealing with guy head for Cleveland.

Believe all the negative reviews about this guy, and stay away. If I could give him no stars I would. I'm surprised that Southwoods would tarnish their name by having clowns like him work there. He has no idea what he's doing. Horrible!!!!

This Dr is terrible he only seen me one time only. The day he did my epidural. He hurt my nerve and now I can't feel my leg. He still has not seen me does not want to give me no meds only another epidural to fix it. Are you kidding me, another shot for what to leave me paralyzed. I do not recommended him at all. Please stay away from him. He should not have a license. I'm giving him zero stars he does not deserve none. Poor poor service!

The “doctor” was the most arrogant rudest “medical professional” I have ever encountered! He Should not have a license and the fact that he still does is terrifying! He talks to you like you are lower than dirt, your heath is not his priority government funding and money is. Shame on him, his nursing staff and south woods..

I read many reviews on Google, and most are helpful. There are some people who simply complain about everyone, and every business; for they have nothing better to do. I had a very short doctor/patient relationship with Dr. Shawn Donatelli, while he was at Tiffany Pain Clinic in Boardman, Ohio. As God is my judge, he, and his office manager were the most uncaring people that I have ever dealt with, and quite frankly; I don't know how he got involved with such a highly rated organization, as Southwoods. Southwoods facilities are first class, and Ed Muransky has outdone himself with his staff, their professionalism and service. I was traveling back and forth to Cleveland every month because my doctor of records was also my pain management doctor. I had many surgeries due to an industrial accident, which were mostly done in Cleveland. I got tired of driving a three hour round trip for a doctor of records, and to get my pain medicine prescription. I was referred to Dr. Shawn… Donatelli, at Tiffany Pain Clinic from another local doctor. I contacted Dr. Shawn Donatelli’s office, and made an appointment. The long and short follow: I was given a new pain medicine that was affecting me in a very negative way, and called his office several times. I begged them to get me into the office before my next appointment due to the negative side effects. After multiple phone calls, I finally asked for the office manager, who was a woman; I don’t recall her name. She contacted me by phone, and as God is my judge, she stated the following: Dr. Donatelli will not see you until your next scheduled appointment. I then asked her the following: you’re telling me that Dr. Donatelli is aware that I am having very negative side effects, and stated that he will not see me until my next scheduled appointment; her response was yes. She then told me that I may be better off going to a different pain clinic; I was beyond shocked! At that point I found another local pain clinic that accepted me as a new patient, and were wonderful. I will not mention who they are for I have no negative issues with Southwoods, or Ed Muransky. I don’t believe that Dr. Shawn Donatelli changed his negative attitude simply because he left the practice at Tiffany Pain Clinic. I feel badly for any patients that have to accept him as a pain clinic doctor. I can’t understand how he was able to get involved in such a first class local business, as Southwoods. I have had many procedures done at Southwoods, and have NEVER been mistreated by anyone, at anytime. It was the exact opposite with Dr. Shawn Donatelli, and his staff at Tiffany Pain Clinic. I wish Ed Muransky well with his new venture, but don’t think he realizes what kind of doctor he hired. I hope Dr. Shawn Donatelli doesn’t affect Southwoods, their superior service, and commitment to patients. I wrote a review while this was happening, and somehow it vanished from the Google review. May God strike me dead, if the above is not the truth!

Not very professional. Arrogant and dismissive. This guy is only interested in making as much money as possible while spending as little time as possible with a patient in need. Office staff is also nasty and rude.

PLEASE READ - HORRIBLE DOCTOR!!! Every negative review I’ve read is spot on. This facility lacks compassion for their patients. If you have side effects from a medication - “tough it out” or don’t take anything, they could care less. “Tough out” suffering through withdrawal from a lazy conversion? I pray nobody has to go through that. One of their NP’s, Anita, is the RUDEST nurse I’ve ever encountered. Her lack of compassion is unsettling. It was like I hit a roadblock trying to reason with her. Your first couple visits are a cash grab. You see the doctor one time, then good luck getting ahold of him after that. Even if you call the urgent, non-emergency line, you’ll either be ignored or told to call back during office hours. So absolutely no help there. I suffered for 5 months only to personally terminate my contract after a series of events I can only describe as ridiculous. Shawn’s ego gets in the way of proper treatment - he won’t even look at you. His way or the highway… - you don’t get to ask questions. Terrified of a new medication you’re prescribed? I was. Good luck having anyone answer any questions about it. The NP didn’t even know what it was when I asked her about it. But she did mention it would cost $3000 a month. There are so many better choices and cheaper alternatives - I didn’t have the option of DISCUSSING it with MY doctor. I mentioned the side effects after briefly looking up the medication in the office - she made one of the most disturbing statements I’ve ever heard. I was shocked, angry and embarrassed. Upon researching the drug at home, I decided I would NOT put it in my body. I called and asked to remain on my current medication, after a few hours I get a call back - “Take the *new RX* or nothing at all.” Those were the EXACT words I was told. I had no choice but to terminate my contract and seek urgent help with another doctor since I was out of medication. It took 3 days for me to get ahold of the office manager who was too busy to call me back even though I was about to run out of medication. I feel horrible for the patients who’ve had to endure this before me. The way chronic pain patients are treated is bad enough, this guy takes it to the next level. I ignored the warning signs and made the mistake of going. Now I’m in a worse situation than before I started. This guy erased all of the progress that I made over the course of 2 years. PLEASE find someone else. I URGE and BEG you to. He’s a hack and embarrassment to this community. A V O I D at ALL costs. I encourage you to repost this review every chance you get to warn others.
