Dr. Stanley Joseph Whitney, MD

He is a wonderful provider. His office staff is really degrading and will make you feel like you are not even a human being?? I hung up the phone today and simply cried because I forgot my last appt.

My sister was seen by this neurologist, and his bedside manner and overall demeanor was absolutely horrible. The way in which he spoke to her and delivered delicate news was uttered very rudely, sarcastically, or nonchalant. Maybe to him…he sees each patient as simply a paycheck, but they are PEOPLE and should be treated with respect, compassion, and decency. When patients are going through health issues or traumatic events, they need a competent doctor who CARES. In the end, he did not help my sister whatsoever with her condition. He even had the audacity to state that he didn’t care what she did, especially after her hospital stay, which ultimately translates to him not caring at all about his patients. Regardless of what level of education or credentials doctors these days attain…they desperately need a lesson in bedside manner and professionalism, which is extremely lacking. My sister will be seen by a much more proficient and empathetic neurologist. I do not recommend this doctor… to anyone.

He takes the time to speak to me at each appointment. He doesn't just walk in check my chart and say ok call when you have any problems. He lets me talk about any problems I am having and he explains why they might be tied in with my epilepsy.

Dr. W. Is a great communicator. He speaks in plain language and listens intently to you AND your spouse. As a family therapist, I very much appreciate his collecting another viewpoint . We first saw him in hospital when my. husband had a stroke. Then I decided to change. Never regretted it. His nurse can seem abrupt. I have found her to warm up after a few visits. She is straight to the point. Remember it is Dr.W.' s expertise and manner you are there for.

Dr. Whitney is a very kind and knowledgeable physician. He has always listened to my concerns and has tried to help in any way he could. That being said, when I got new insurance and a new pc, I was visiting my pc and explaining my migraines and what treatments have worked for me. The only thing that helps is a controlled substance so I got the script from my pc. Now neither doctor will write for it and just because of a miss communication. Looks like I am going to have to suck it up and live in chronic pain.

I really liked Dr. Whitney. He is very thorough, and he sat there and listened to everything I had to say. I liked the fact that he sat with me and went over the results of my MRI and visually showed me what was the cause of concern. However, the medical assistant that he has in his office is very rude. We had scheduled an appointment for me to have a test done at a facility in Tallahassee. When I went to the appointment, I was told that I had a large out of pocket expense that I had to pay up front. I couldn't pay it, so I had to call my insurance and change the authorization of which facility I would like to use for my test. When I called the hospital I wanted to have it done at because I have had previous tests done there, they told me I needed to have the doctors orders and approval sent over to their facility before I could make my appointment. I called his office and got her voicemail (His medical assistants). She sent the information over, or she said she did. I haven't got… confirmation on that. The scheduler from the new facility called me and told me that the earliest appointment available was after the "order" was up so I would need to call my doctors office and get an extension on the order so I could file it with my insurance. I called and got her voicemail and told her what was going on. She called me back and got my voicemail and the answer I received was "We are not willing to help you. You will have to call your insurance company yourself and get them to help you. We are not willing to help you change your appointment again (I couldn't do the other appointment due to financial reasons) Call your insurance company yourself and figure it out." Then she gave me their number. I'm sorry, but I thought it was her job to help the patients?

I love Dr. Whitney. He listens and is very down to earth. So glad I found him......was referred by a friend that also sees him and she loves him too. God bless you, Dr. Whitney!

knows what he is doing

Rarely have I found a doctor that I can have a normal conversation about a medical issue that is free flowing and not controlled. He even returns phone calls personally.and really listens well. I can hardly believe that the person who posted the negative review is talking about the same person.

Dr. Whitney is great! He spends time with patients and is relaxed and easy going but still very intelligent and confident in his assessments. He is willing to do the tests needed but he is not an alarmist. Sign up for him!
