Dr. Stephanie Jo Mandelman, MD

I really like this doctor and her staff. I found them to be very caring, understanding and she took time with me which was appreciated. :)

My wife didn't have a great experience. I accompanied my wife. The staff are very cold as other reviews mentioned. They are not friendly at all. First visit was on time, however we were so rushed. Dr. was suppose to get back to my wife about a specific issue and it took weeks. Finally they scheduled a call back which we called on time. We were told she would call back in 5 minutes. She never called. We called and was told the Dr. was still talking to a tech. So weeks went by and she never did anything and now you just waste our time? We fired the Dr and her staff that day. No remorse. Staff as cold as ice. We went and picked up our paperwork. Don't do it.

I'm floored reading these 1 and 2 star reviews. Most leaving a review on behalf of a friend or relative that has had an appointment with Dr Mandelman. I've had Dr Mandelman deliver all 3 of my babies and I truly dont think another doctor would have been better. Period. Now, some people say they felt rushed by her, bo. She is HIGH in demand and splits her time between the hospital and her impeccable office. When I first met her I just thought she wasnt chatty but with every appointment I had I felt we were forming a bond, adderall she was going to deliver my babies. I text messaged her during my second pregnancy in the middle of the night and she responded and asked questions and truly cared for me. She had a lot on her plate but that doesnt take away from the care each patient receives. Again, I'm shocked at these low star ratings because shes hands down the best doctor in Ventura county. I have 2 other friends that have switched to her as well. I recommend her, I vouch for her and I… have no gain in doing so. She and her whole staff are incredibly helpful.

My daughter who attends college in California went to see Stephanie Mandelman for a followup recommended by her doctor at home. My daughter felt Dr. Mandelman was rushed, rude and rough during the exam. My daughter told her she has been having some painful symptoms and Dr. Mandelman mentioned one thing it might be, and when my daughter said she had had that before and she didn't think it felt the same, the doctor said "well then what do you expect me to check?" She didn't ask follow up questions or show any concern. When she did the exam she was extremely rough and caused pain and bleeding. My daughter called me in tears after the appointment. She has had doctor appointments in the past and has never had a negative experience like this.

I went to Dr. Mandelman for many years. While I did not find her to be very nice or open to questions or discussion, I never had any real issues because everything was just a standard check-up so there was never an impetus to leave. Then, her office made a number of mistakes regarding a regular birth control prescription and also a mammogram order that cause me months of calling and trying to get a reply from the nurse or doctor to rectify a pretty standard issue. Dr. Mandelman would never return the call until I was so upset one time because of the run around for month that I said I would wait on the line. She immediately came onto the call (which means she was standing right there while avoiding me) and was so incredibly rude. She said she had just "fixed" the issue so what was me problem. I tried to explain how long I had been trying to reach her and to get a resolution and she practically hung up on me. I never went back. God forbid I actually had a real medical issue. I think… she is callously unconnected from her patients and it affects her office staff as well.

Let me begin by saying that Dr. Mandelman has absolutely the WORST bedside manner I've ever seen. She does NOT know how to develop even the slightest bit of a personal relationship with her patients. It makes the appointment very awkward and intimidating. She also apparently doesn't know how to use a phone as it's near impossible to get a return phone call from her. Following the first pap smear I've ever had, Dr. Mandelman delivered some slightly abnormal results in the most cold, unsympathetic way I can possibly imagine. As a young woman you expect that everything should be normal so an abnormal result of course came as a shock to me. I was visibly worried, had many questions and concerns (as expected), and she acted irritated with me as I asked questions to clarify exactly what the results meant and how I should proceed. She wouldn't even sit down to talk with me - she was trying to leave the room mid sentence. I left the appointment crying. She instructed me to come back in… 6 months for a re-pap. After my re-pap I had to call the office multiple times to get her to even REVIEW my results. A week and a half later and still no returned phone call. Absolutely unacceptable behavior. Bad doctor with lazy habits. Doesn't truly care about her patients' wellbeing. I can't even imagine anyone trusting her with their pregnancy!

I can’t thank the staff and doctors anymore for this patience and attention to my care. They helped me deliver my miracle baby and continue to care about me as a person. I will always use them as my practice.

Dr. Mandelman is a professional and efficient doctor. In terms of the technicalities of my appointment with her, I have no complaints. However, as many other reviewers are stating, Dr. Mandelman's bedside manner and all-around interactions with her patients is atrocious. I understand that doctors want to maintain a certain degree of professionalism with their patients, and therefore do not delve into personal details. However, in my opinion, a gynecologist is different. Your gynecologist will be dealing with some of your most personal issues ( Birth control, STD's, Pregnancies both wanted and unwanted, and post-natal care). Because they are dealing with something so private and personal, some sort of relationship with their patients is necessary for them to properly give medical advice. My problem with Dr.Mandelman began the minute she took me into her office. It was apparent that she had no intentions of interacting with me on a personal level. She asked me all of the typical… questions, such as when I started my period, if it was regular, etc...Although I informed her that I was on birth control, she threw a curveball and asked me if there was a possibility that I was pregnant. Of course, its within the realm of possibility-I don't take a pregnancy test every morning. When I paused, contemplating how to answer the question, she immediately said asked if I used condoms. I tried to tell her that I did not because I was in a committed 1.5 year relationship where both of us had been tested, but before I could get a word in she gave me a look of complete disgust and continued with her questions. The rest of the appointment proceeded in a similar was. She continually asked me if I wanted to get blood work done to test for "AIDS and syphilis", and I am still not sure if her asking multiple times was standard procedure or if it was a jab at my lack of condom use. When the exam was finished, she quipped "I recommend condom use to prevent STDs" and left the room before I could get a word in edgewise. As I stated above, I understand that doctors try to keep a divide between the professional and the personal with their patients. However, something like my sexual history and the number of partners I've had is something I feel is extremely relevant, and yet she couldn't even take the 2 minutes to ask. Even in my experiences at places like Planned Parenthood, where they are swamped with patients, the nurses have taken the time and effort to ask me more in-depth questions. My appointment with Dr.Mandelman left me feeling ashamed and embarrassed, two words that should NEVER be associated with a gyno visit. If you are looking for a doctor that will do a routine exam once a year, Dr. Mandelman is the doctor for you. However, if you are looking for a doctor that you can have a mutually respectful relationship with, a doctor who will help you through all of your reproductive issues without judgement, I would highly recommend finding another doctor.

Dr. Mandelman is by far the best doctor I have been to. She is very warm, extremely professional, really attentive and so thorough. She answers all my questions, even after business hours, to ensure that I am always comfortable in her care. I truly feel that my baby and I are in the best hands. Several of my colleagues are her patients and feel the same way. She is a keeper.

She is always on the run, does not have patience to talk to the patients, the staff is not courteous, they don;t know what they are doing, just doing for the sake of doing it.
